Which Tyres?

Hed are also 25mm external .. is there anythibg particular about these rims that make them hard to mount on?

I fitted a set of 33c Challenge Almanzos to the same rims a while back without any issues whatsoever.

Hey all, im an aussie who is heading to germany in a few weeks, i regularly visit but this time with a frankenbike ss cyclocross. I have no bloody idea what would be a tyre for snow/ice. Anything less then 32mm???

Schwalbe do some decent options.

Yeah im juggling between those or contis, i dont give a hoot about weight just need traction and durability

Something with semi aggressive tread and quite low pressures for icy and packed snow if using sidewalks. My winterbike with 35c conti cx speed tires punped up to 4,5 bar is a lot harder to control compared to CX bike on Schwalbe X-ones at 2 bar pressure. Last winter I commuted on brakeless track bike with 23 c road tires. So its up to you, your level of bike control and desired ease of riding.
Anyway winter seems to let go and snow starts to melt at least in the Baltics. :)

I've only done around 400km on them since I picked the bike up two weeks ago, but I really like them so far. They are a bit more sluggish on the tarmac than I thought they would be, but the biggest tyre I've ridden on the road before these is 28c, so think I could just be getting used to the extra mass.

Done a bit of gravel toe path riding, and also some wet mud almost single track type stuff. They performed great. Have been running them at 60psi, and dropped down to 35 for wet mud.

I've bought a set of Strada Bianca's as I have some longer all tarmac rides coming up, and thought the Almazos would be OTT for that.

Haven't ridden them anywhere near enough for a proper all round opinion yet, but first impressions are good.

Could get a better off road option, could get better on road option, but these seem to do a decent job of covering all bases!

Anyone know what size 700cc would fit my salsa 29er rims? Want to get some tyres for commuting and general usage so any recommendations welcome. Haven't got any calipers so cant measure the outer/inner rim width but the salsa website states they are 30mm wide.

I really dont 'feel' the grip of my 42c Babyshoe Pass (extra light) as much as I can with my 25c Vittoria G+ Corsa .. running Babyshoe at 35/40psi and Corsa at 65/60 ..

It could just be winter tbh. But what would be a decent enough 'winter' tyre in the 700x40-42c range? I was looking at Gravel Grinder (kinda like almanzo but fat) but clearly no ^^^

Can you get big Gravel Kings?
I have them in 28c on my winter wheels for Talbot roadie, and have been v happy with them so far.

Ive had no issues with my Almanzos as far as grip goes in recent icy/slippery conditions. Going round corners enthusiastically in the conditions we've had this past week is only gonna end one way, no matter what tyres you've got on.

Can you get big Gravel Kings?

Thats on my shortlist along with G-One.

I enjoy them on my lolBiek in 650b 1.75" .. they feel grippy.

in £60 a pair category specialized sawtooth 42 (615g) or schwalbe G one 38 (440g)?

I'm looking for new tires that I can use for a double century this summer. My bike is a cross check, so I prefer >= 35mm tires
So far there are some candidates:

• Schwalbe Marathon Supremes - A lot of people recommend this, light, low rolling resistance
  
• Schwalbe G-ONE Speed - these tires are interesting, on Schwalbe website, they say the tires roll nicely on tarmac, but I kinda doubt it.
  
• Compass Barlow Pass - the Cadillac of randonneuring tires, but there are issues of durability and puncture resistance(?). They're expensive too!
  
• Panaracer Pasela PT - Cheap, but I can't find non tanwall version on the internet
  
• Vittoria Randonneur Pro

The Vittoria Voyager Hyper is pretty much a big road bike tire disguised as a touring bike tire. Rolling resistance at an air pressure of 90 psi is comparable to all-round road bike tires pumped up to 120 psi.
