I seem to remember a gizmo launched last year that did this: queue much grumbling about automatic gearboxes and not being proper cycling...

The semi synchro mode seems like a neat solution, automatically dropping to smaller cogs on the back when you shift the front, so you don't have to manually do it yourself.
