And....new page fail.

Thanks. Happy to finish top 30, bit disappointed not to finish on the lead lap, but hey-ho. Plenty of room for improvement with corners on the course I failed to master properly but my running form doesn't appear to have disappeared despite a lack of practice. Perhaps I should get into fell running, that appears an even more sadistic sport than cross.

also, I saw a photo of Isla Rowntree with those old-school wheel holders on the axles, as in the image below. Are these commercially available still?

Hah, yes - so did I. Do want a pair.

One of her team at Islabikes made them for her as a Christmas present.
You can still get them at cycle jumbles, I had a pair until a few months ago but gave them to a club mate.

Thanks Andy, such a neat simple solution. Maybe with a bit of social media badgering Islabikes will produce some.

A friend of mine makes these - not cheap but very nice. -

is it worth schlepping to deal this weekend for the london league? Even with advance tickets it's £18 return on the train, then £15 entry...
Is the course a good one?

Never ridden it myself, due to it being nearly in France, but by all accounts it's meant to be a very good course, with a good mix of terrain and challenges.

I'm tempted. If only to get some use from the mudtubs.
-
• #5713
It'll be too cold for mud tubs.

Tracers then? Bet yeah that weather that's coming looks like a riot.
-
• #5715
Maybe. East Kent is fun when the wind is from the North, there's nothing slowing that wind down except a few oil and gas rigs.

I've just moved to Bristol, can anyone point me in the direction of some good trails around stoke Gifford?
I've already been down to Ashton manor park and seen a bit of the MTB trails which I plan on hitting once I figure a good route to it
Are there any groups that meet up for cx training?

That's a bit of a drastic step just to do some muddy races, no?
-
• #5723
Cool thanks for the link, I'd better try and find me lights for those early starts
What are the trails like in Leigh woods, would I get away with file treads or would I need something a bit more substantial
I'm back in London this weekend otherwise I would have entered, but I will be entering lovedcross the week after. If you see some in lfgss kit on a giant tcx say hello

Some of us are just dedicated to the cause 😂
We came out here after my girlfriend got a job out here, after looking around it was a no brainer.
Don't worry I'll still be trying to catch you in the odd London league race next season

Will do!
Leigh woods is sticky, leafy mud :)
The mtb trails there however are all-weather surface - file treads would be fine.
I hopefully be at LoveCrossed - also on a TCX but with BSCC (red, yellow and black) kit :)
what a pic!
