  • Thank you, and also @miro_o for your feedback!

There has been a bit of misunderstanding though -
that Frontier software apparently gives two options for high quality scans: 1) tiff 16 base, and 2) lossless.
The files they gave me were created using the tiff 16 base option - giving me the 16.9 MB, 2433 x 2433 px .TIF files (from 6x6 negative).

The "weird" image I included in the earlier post with the black bar at the bottom (a 55.9 MB .RAW file originally) was given to me just to see if I could somehow open / convert it - which is, according to that guy in the lab, only possible with special software from Fuji Japan - which is why they don't hand out these .RARs to customers, but tiffs (or jpegs) instead.

  • ... so you are missing the Fujifilm raw conversion software?

Do any of the cloud raw-dng converters work? It's a long-shot I know.

    Capture One?

    The lab can't covert these?

  • Tried "RawTherapee" and "Total Image Converter" (which doesn't even see the file in the folder) so far, and PS obviously.
Will try some of the cloud ones..

Surprised I can't find useful information on this via google..

  • When you open the raw files in photoshop, does it ask you to specify dimensions?

    Yes

  • Here's that RAW is if anyone's interested..

    Online converters fail so far...

  • I think if you were to put in the original dimensions of the image you'd get something resembling the original image. If you don't know it, you could probably get it by trial and error, just keep decreasing the width until everything ends up in the correct place

  • Tried this just for shits and giggles, alas the proportion of weird stuff vs. black bar stays constant no matter how I in- or decrease the width..

  • The lab can't covert these?

    No.
The guy from the lab said they asked Fuji Germany who could not help them either (???)

  • ..going through some old folders; sorry if I have posted one of these already, think not though..

  • Has anyone on here shot Kodak Pro Image film?
It used to be available via eBay from a Thai seller that shut down apparently.. now there's a new guy from South Korea.
Have never bought stuff from there through eBay, wondering if it's worth it.

Like the colours, they're somewhat muted, but not numb. It's looks "understated", in a good way, I think.
    Here's some images on flickr..

  • This is Ultramax 400 by the way..

  • Something from nothing, really like this shot despite the mundane subject! Really great colours.

  • In other news I just finished a roll of Portra 400 shot with a borrowed "Revue 400 SE" (rumors have it it's a replica of the famous Hi-Matic 7SII / Konica S3).
Shot the last frames during the past sunny days with fresh snow - gorgeous light and colours here in Berlin - only to discover after rewinding and getting the canister out of the camera that it was actually an Agfa APX 400 I had put in there.. (insert facepalm.jpg)

  • I've shot it!

They're all from it developed and scanned at Asda shot on an olympus XA2

    :)

  • Ah, yeah - I remeber that airport shot!
    Nice!

Where did you get the film from? Bought in the states?

  • nope, I got it online from the Thai place you mentioned earlier.

    Thanks!

  • Exhibition recommendation.
If you're passing, I recommend Malick Sidibe at Somerset House.
B&W studio & party shots - mostly Rollei TLR and all deeply charming.

  • ran into a friend and his wife at the shrine
this is provia 400x pushed to 800, I think need to be more careful with my stash, looking at these on the lightbox is fucking amazing

  • Nice portrait. I know what you mean about looking at the actual transparency...
