Garmin 500 can be found cheap 2nd hand, since it's out of production (200 can do it too)

hi
my buddy wants a computer for his bike so he can import gpx files and gps routes etc. basically he wants to be able to follow a little dot when he is on his bike along pre defined and custom routes. what should he buy? I mentioned garmin but they are punchy! thanks
