Liked Rogue One - best Star Wars movie since Empire. Not a huge boast, given that the competition is the one with teddy bears, the three we don't mention and last year's remake of the first one. Even so, great fun to be back in their worlds for a few hours.

So screason, what have we got?
For the Xmas period we have:
Finding Dory, LaLaLand, Arrival, Birth of a Nation, A Monster Calls and 12 Chairs.
Have enjoyed the excellent Florence Foster Jenkins and alright Girl on the Train. Kids liked the BFG.

Vader has a fat neck. -

Lked it. Compared to Awakens it was so much better. Felicity Jones was weak. Battle scenes good

Cartoon Peter Cushing confused me.

A Hologram for the King. If Kafka made a rom-com set in Saudi Arabia. I enjoyed it, although it's pretty uneven.

We saw Birth of a Nation tonight. Powerful to the extent that it's hard to watch in places. Some incredibly good acting and direction. The negative reviews I've read focus mainly on the women's voices being silent and they have a point - but it's an important story well told and I'll be watching it again.

Off to see Rogue One tonight, finally! Will almost certainly blub when Leia shows up.
oblivious to the Films thread looking at sci-fi i randomly watched Dead Mountaineers Hotel last night. 1979 Estonian film. the set is amazing. story derivative and the acting performances cliched. but remember this is 1979.
solid 7/10
rockets being launched from helicopters always wins
