All this talk of compact SUVs and soft roaders. Blurgh. I'm with hefty. Need a family car? Estates win, even small to midsized hatchbacks are perfectly fine.
Want a left field suggestion? Used current generation Peugeot 308 estate, not the ugly gaping maw version. A very good to drive and nice looking car. Go check it out
