  • I thought Rogue One was really disappointing.

  • Videodrome is amazing. You get to see Debbie Harry's boobs.

    🤔😂😐

  • So screason, what have we got?

  • For anyone up at this hour, The Guest is about to start on Channel 4. Great film.

  • Depending on the hangover tomorrow, I might go see Rogue one or Office Xmas Party

  • I saw Rogue One on Friday. I went in not sure whether I'd be in to it although I really liked the Force Awakens.

I thought it was meh at best with some nice battle scenes. I didn't give two shits about any of the characters, they all felt a bit throwaway.

  • dont they all kark it at the end?

  • The Eagle Huntress

Its not a film without it's missteps. It tries to make a bit more of the cultural opposition to a woman hunting with an eagle than there really it and doesn't really delve into the history of eagle hunting and the women who have done this across the centuries. Honestly, the film could have easily gotten into all of this and more, been an hour longer and been just as watchable.

But on the other hand, the two central subjects, Aisholpan and her father, are brilliantly engaging amid the stunning cinematography. And if any forumengers have young children, you could do worse in trying to inspire them to great things by taking them to see this film. Especially the bit where a young girl climbs down a cliff face on the end of a loosely tied rope and lassos a large egret before wrapping it in a blanket.

A lot of reviews are trying to make much of the somewhat set up nature of the girl vs patriarchy narrative but in doing so are ignoring the many other great elements of this film. Even knowing the shortcomings, I really enjoyed this film.

  • lassos a large egret

Do you mean eaglet? Or was that the big twist in the film?

  • Only one kung fu scene in the whole of Rogue One and a bit of that was in the trailer.

I ❤ Donnie Yen and the sleepy eye dude from Ghost Dog so was well excited but was left disappoint.

  • Any good not perse new sci-fi movies for the discerning movie critic?

Not new. David Lynch Dune is amazing though hated by many

    Event Horizon creepy madness

La Jetee/ 12 monkeys clever stuff

Stalker by Tarkovsky (referenced in hypernormalisation)

Star ship Trroopers fx heavy racist critique Paul verhoven

    And Metropolis ...

    Non of these new. Sorry

  • "movie reviews by Dandy: Story 8/10 Acting 7/10 Boobs 10/10"? ;)

  • Hm I don't think I've seen La Jetee, thanks will try to find it.

Star ship troopers was a hoot, I thought it would be low brow Trash but Verhoeven went all Robocop on it and combined violence with social criticism. Yay! :)

  • Sting in a codpiece doe...

ST = greatest movie of its decade. Flawless, like much of Paul van dear hoovers work.

  • Sting in a codpiece doe...

Best bit... I watched it again a couple of weeks ago, love that movie so much...

  • Mad max 1-4. George Millar is criminally underrated.

I really want a ford falcon gt. And a Sweet red panel van with 70s prog rock album cover art airbrushed down the side.

  • Move to Oz, they're everywhere...

  • Can I join a sociopathic gang of motorcycle murderers? Are there joining fees? Dental plan?

  • Motorbikes aren't allowed to ride in groups of more than two, it's the actual law...

    The threat is real...

You'll have to donate the missus and most of your dignity, for the first couple of years anyway...

  • Don't touch the sequels, they're total dung.

    What's this about then?

  • Thought Han Solo was ded?

  • Does Ford have to contractually appear in ery remake or summat?
