not sure how safe it is with motorcycles but cars you take to any used tyre shop and they will take out the offending object and plug the hole for £5-7 it takes under four minutes to do.
dont try doing it yourself unless you have a high pressure line to inflate the tyre again.
they make it look very simple when they plug them.

I assume that, as this is in the middle of the tread, it's pluggable and not terminal?
What's the best way to go about digging it out? It's fairly stuck in there.
