There's been an epidemic of motorcycle theft for years. The police do not investigate or aggressively prosecute it - sucks. I had a bike stolen, mid-afternoon central London, in front of witnesses that called the police and gave a description of the van and number plate and they didn't even send a car out until I got there and reported it separately.
Fingers crossed it shows up and / or your insurance pays out. It's a shit feeling losing a bike you like.

Has a Facebook group which is a step towards raising awareness about the epidemic of moto theft. Seems like it's equal to the similar thieving spree around bicycles a few years back.
They'll take anything that's an easy pick or a desirable pick. Even a ratty bike needs to be chained to something solid, preferably with an un-croppable chain (case hardened 19-22mm almax, pewag and similar) and preferably with another lock/s. Even then I'd still be concerned the way this is going.
