  • Already been offered, which is awesome and much appreciated but we're seeing what we can do with just second hand/donated "stuff" to get them up and running.

If the costs of moving said stuff becomes unwieldy I will speak up.

Just looking in case there was anything people might alternatively be putting out for collection or taking to a charity shop.

  • Great. And let me know if the donations of stuff still leave you short of pieces.

  • @BleakRefs how's the purchase going? Still being dicked around by cunt seller?

  • There have already been a lot of great offers for donations of goods, which is awesome. We will hopefully know more later today or tomorrow what is needed.

There have also been a few offers for cash donations. Again, this is amazing and really appreciated. Originally I was hesitant to take money and I do think that a donation to a charity is just as awesome as this person relied on those a lot this last year or so.

However, it's becoming more apparent that there might be things that money will help solve more quickly (utilities, certain clothing that cannot/should not be bought 2nd hand etc.) Also, the number of people who have offered money (here and from mrs_com's circles) mean that the amount offered will make a big difference very quickly.

So if anyone does want to chip in, I can give you my Paypal details. I will let people know what the money was used for, show receipts etc and if there is any money left over, return it to the donors or pass it on to a relevant charity.

I don't use my Paypal account for anything else at the minute so it is not going to be absorbed into my cheap consumer electronics habit.

Offers of stuff are still also cool.

  • Thanks for asking buddy, we're getting there. Looking like the move is likely to be in the new year, dragging on a bit now.

Had a bit of a wobble where a total bargain place came up in the same block - longer lease, better shape, and £15k cheaper. It was sold within a few days and I missed it. Really irritating.

But the price I'm paying for mine is still fair, so I'm going to keep going.

Just want it to be over at this point. I'm sure once I move in it'll be worth it.

  • YES.
    I have a fridge/ freezer.
    I've got some bedding maybe?

  • Also a breakfast bar and two white stools.

  • Wicked, that's the mini fridge/freezer, yeah?

I'll put you on the list, thanks very much.

  • Yes.
It's mini if you're normal sized yes....
    :)

  • You can borrow the Volvo if it would help to move stuff around, just don't prang it.

  • I would definitely prang it.

  • Wicked, thanks. mrs_com is on the Freecycle type website duty so I will pass these on.

    Cheers

  • Does she still need a table? I have an old pub/cafe table - this style leg:

    https://www.andythornton.com/cruciform-rectangular-cast-iron-table-base-atfumt6022d-341

but with a very patina-ed (ok, scratched, bleached and tea-stained) dark wooden top.

also between 1 and 20 matching coffee mugs, used once at most.

We are N15 with a car and could deliver.

  • I have a TV and freeview box if that's useful?

No car, but could get to H&I tube easily.

  • A lifestyle choice I suppose?

  • Yes please! I'll be in touch about arrangements as soon as I can

  • Thanks for the offer but we're sorted for a TV. Cheers

  • Hey we have a sofa bed, nice armchair and a microwave.

We are based in Enfield and don't have access to a car though.

  • Thanks everyone for the generous offers and contributions. I'll try to stop spamming this thread and open a new one, link to follow.

  • If I owned a house outright with no mortgage valued at 300,000, I presume any money I borrowed against it in the form of a re-mortgage/loan would be income dependent?

Would there be a cap on the sum relative to income? Would there be stipulations on what purpose I was borrowing for?

  • Not straightly an owning a home question, but since you guys have to deal with banks, mortgage, remortgage etc, thought it's worth asking. So my landlady wants to have some estate agents round to have a look, I don't think it's rent related since I have been here for 8.5 years, so it would make sense to have a chat with me if she wanted more money... my guess is she wants to sell... but any other reason why she would want agents round? She asked me once in March and nothing happened, then she is asking again... A colleague said it might have something to do with remortgaging hence a new valuation, someone said the letting / renting laws have changed since April, and it might require a new valuation etc... but if it's nothing to do with selling / renting related, would it still be a job for an estate agent? Shouldn't it not be a job for the bank?

On a different note (will be cross-posting on the other thread whatever is called), anyone knows anywhere going for a person + an outdoor cat, give me a shout, doesn't hurt to start looking just in case...

  • She might be thinking of selling, or just remortgaging. If she was definitely selling she would need you out so would tell you, if she were remortgaging she'd just tell you. I'd therefore say she's just thinking about selling, so don't panic yet.

  • I hope so... I just need to sort out my work contract then I will very actively look to buy, no more casually looking like I have done this past year...

A bit of a sod story, the flat got broken into a couple of weeks back and I think this has pissed her off a big time (nothing to do with me), as it's the 2nd time since I've lived here, alongside with the freeholder / owner of upstairs having been a dick for years. I'd sell if I were her, but I wouldn't if I were her...

Would she have to tell me if she were just remortgaging?
