I'm reading another RAAM book at the moment, matter of fact.
I'm just recollecting (probably very badly) what I think he told me it cost. If you can find local support people or people willing to pay their own way over then you don't need airfares.
I can't remember the figure Shu mentioned but it must've been in the "I need sponsorship" range.

Cant cycle but good at spending, £10K probably wouldn't cover airfares, 3 x that is realistic non?
