When the police aren't doing anything, I'd say getting some witness help yourself wouldn't be stupid. Luckily the driver in my case stopped and said it was his fault (at the time, he now denies liability and I'm waiting for a court date nearly two years on), so I didn't have to speak to anyone but my lawyer.

Even if he wasn't using strava, someone could potentially trawl all the segment attempts from that day. Not sure it would turn up anything useful though... If a cyclist with a camera had seen the incident, I'm sure they would have stopped

Were you recording your ride? If so, could Strava Flyby find another witness?
I don't use Strava for privacy reasons.

Or would this fall foul of what @PhilDAS was talking about re: contacting witnesses.
