It's not a matter of wrong or right. Just tweaking things such as road position based on risk assessment and observation of what you do. Would need to see you ride....
If you apply this to other Ares people have no issue understanding the value of professional input.

To better answer your question. My own experience of how I, a life long rider, changed my riding when I trained (to be an instructor ).
I had read Cyclecraft and already knew in theory primary/secondary position, assertive cycling etc. However after training and over a number of weeks following that I completely reconstrued my position on road relating this to the traffic stream rathe than the kerb. Completely changed riding experience from often being squeezed to having loads if space and almost no near misses/ imcidents
