  • Listen to someone else then. But please accept training from someone, and then encourage others to do so too.
Hell, even, come to sunny Reading and I'll arrange it for you.
The resistance to cycle training is bonkers. There is a whole tonne of stuff that has been rehearsed, tried and refined and the most experienced cyclists are the most reluctant to use it. And then they get in some awful scrape and fail to see that they had any part to play in it, when actually they do.
Cycle training is for you, at least as much as the ten year old in school. You need to use everything at your disposal, ruling out on the bike training is pretty petty, and for the proud. Not for the wise.

  • Erm... you do realise I was deliberately hit by a car in a hit and run?

Not to disagree with your core argument, but there is no single silver bullet. Cycle training doesn't protect against a driver who will use their vehicle as a weapon. A helmet doesn't either. Nor does more visibility.

My personal position has changed. I'm not in control of my own safety, I thought I was. Now I realise I need to expect the incident and prepare for it, but there is no silver bullet.

  • Do you think you are the only person to be targeted by a wanker in a car? There in't a single solution, but eschewing training that might prepare for the wanker in the car isn't going improve your chances. MIPS certainly isn't.
