My father (who is 70 in a few days) would like a small, bright, tough torch that he can keep in a pocket.
What would be a good one to get for him, torch experts?

"Tactical" torch with a Cree LED, an 18650 cell and a tailcap switch?

I'd prefer a recco for a torch that someone has actually bought and used, I've purchased a Cree torch (ebay IIRC) which looked good but was total shit as it changed modes when you went over a bump (I was using it as a front light).

This is by far the best out of the ones I've tried https://countycomm.com/collections/aaa-flashlights/products/aluminium-anodized-aaa-flashlight-by-maratac-rev-3 You can even get a titanium one
The trouble is you need to get it delivered to a US address.

Wake up lights. Anyone use one / have any recommendations?
-
• #80712
The one I recommended has the same LED and you can get it in the UK
-
• #80714
It's only got the one mode though. Once your eyes adjust, the low mode (1.5 lumen) on the CountyComm one is pretty useful and the battery lasts for days on that.
The US only shipping is a bit of an arse though.

I have a cheap Lumie one which seems to work fine. I'm not sure how much it effects my mood - but certainly if you have to get up at 4am for a flight, for e.g., the light certainly makes it more comfortable

90% of the time you only need one mode, if you need more they make the t03 (guess how many modes it has?)

Someone on here recommended a Cree Q5 from ebay about a year ago. I bought two for dog walks and work, one of which is used absolutely everyday and it has never let me down in almost 12 months. I use it on my bike and at work. It cost a trifling £2.37 inc P&P.
You can spend more on the wrapping paper and bow then. -

Depends what type of polystyrene but for finishing sheets, generally use this. http://www.screwfix.com/p/aluminium-foil-tape-silver-aluminium-50mm-x-45m/35529?kpid=35529&cmmmc=Google--Product%20Listing%20Ads--Sales%20Tracking--sales%20tracking%20url&gclid=CIWwrvf159ACFYc-Gwodo-wPPg

It's basically finding the right balance, once you worn out your Open Pro, just get some nice wide Mavic A319 (or similar) to work best with the larger tyres.
35mm and 13mm internal is not a great combination.

Unless I crash again, that's not happening soon, only once in my life I had to replace a rim... I don't ride as many miles as most people here and it's split between several bikes.
So I checked and I had dropped pressure at 55 psi, which is the minimum required for this tyres.
Now up at 70, will see how it goes...
Anyway, to the point, seems that slippery issue has nothing to do with tyres then... I don't remember the schwable road cruisers 35c I first had on that bike being problematic on that matter, and their max inflation was lower than the clement... confirms pressure is likely to be the reason... -

Got a pal looking for a allroad/adventure bike. She's been looking at the GT grade (sora model). What else is good around the 600-800 mark?
