  • Currently in A&E at St Thomas's hospital.

My bike has collected by Salman and returned to the office where we both work.

It was a hit and run. Dark hatchback swiped me off against the corner of a parked car at roughly 105 Stamford Street, Westbound, opposite Coin Street Community Centre, equidistant between Coin St and Cornwall Road.

The driver drove off after slowing for a moment, turned left on to Cornwall Road probably to avoid the stationary traffic queue leading to the IMAX roundabout.

I have damage on my right leg, internal bleeding below the right knee, lots of blood from the right knee and major swelling. Possible break in the lower right leg. Numerous scrapes and scratches down the right side. Hip hurts.

    No concussion. No head impact.

Police not yet contacted by myself, but ambulance staff notified them and said they will intercept here at the hospital.

I have a witness and his contact details.

I'm quite shaken. Weird experience. Sat on the ambulance stretcher waiting to be checked in.

  • Shit! sorry to hear this. Heal up.

  • Get checked and take it easy

When I had compartment syndrome at first they thought it was a broken bone. Internal bleeding can be really dangerous.

    Heal up fast.

Do you need a hand with anything? Bike collection etc?

  • Ah, no. Hope they're checking you out and taking good care of you. Heal up!

  • Glad there was a witness. Heal up and rest.

  • Don't gloss over any aches/pains, be as clear as you can you have been hit by a car and hit the deck.

You may have a wait to be seen as Guys can be very busy, and if your not bleeding out or having a heart attack you drop down the prioity list.
Is the list of injuries from the paramedics ? A+E will confirm with scans and poking you about until you make ow sounds.

Nurses are ace, if your still on an ambulance stretcher waiting to seen, don't be brave, any pain or increase in discomfort let them or the paramedics waiting with you know.

Things take time in A+E, your in the right place, Guys is pretty awesome.

    Speedy healing vibes.

  • Got a bed/trolley in A&E now.

Still bleeding, but nothing terrible. Pain is a seven out of ten, occasionally an eight. Surviving without pain killers as I can cope right now and I think it leaves me more lucid and able to describe aches and pains which means I should get the right help.

I'm good. Just a little shocked.

  • Heal up vb. If you need anything let me/us know. You need to speak to the police

  • Ouch. Hope you are okay as the adrenalin starts to wear off.
Heal up well in the coming days and take care x

  • The police haven't turned up at the hospital yet.

    Will figure it out later

  • The driver side off, turned left

You mean you were left hooked?

  • Parked car on left, me parallel, driver in car overtaking me cut me off after having given space. I believe this was intentional, there was no reason for the movement he made... it is not near a junction, there was no oncoming vehicle, there was no need to move sidewards and cut me off.

He cut across my space, squeezing me against the front of the parked car. I went down on my right side, he did impact my body and bike quite hard. I ultimately fell into the space just behind his car as he was still moving forward.

    This was heading West.

Whilst I was down I looked up to try and catch the number but failed, he'd slowed momentarily but had moved off again and was turning down the street in front, a left turn. Could only make out that it was a small hatchback, dark in colour, the most vivid memory is of the wing mirror.

  • It was intentional, there were no incoming vehicles in the other lane. It was hit and run.

  • Have you got someone coming to be with you?

  • Fi is in Cuba.

A friend offered. But I'm fine.

  • Mostly I want the police.

  • Get well soon, try to write everything down now

  • Indeed jt was. The driver could have moved into the other lane but didn't. Perhaps s/he was distracted. In the phone . Smidsy

  • That sounds awful, what a prick!

  • There no way this is SMIDSY. No way. Have you seen my lighting? And my Bagaboo bag with reflective panels? And I was wearing (in a gown now) my Rapha Brevet Long Sleeve Jersey with those super reflective chest panels.

    No way this is SMIDSY.

  • We share the same mindset Velocio.

If pain relief has been offered.......
If you request it, it should be seen as an esqulation in discomfort/pain.
You are right that it can mask things, being aware is good.

Shock will set in a some point, things will get emotional, don't panic :)
Getting a bed in Guys A+E means the para-medics have discharged you into Guys care, the PM's will have a cup of tea and shortly be off to rescue someone else (unless you messed up the back of the ambulance then clean that first :) )

I am not in London, can anyone relay a message for you to anyone that needs to know where you are ?
I guess if posting on here you have let nearest and dearest know whats happened and where you are.

    Expect an all nighter.
Checks take time, scans/x-rays may be ordered, this is due process to rule out unseen damage, if not-to bad, you might be out at dawn, if Nurses/Doctors not sure you may be moved to a ward for 24hrs observation, this can just be a precaution, so don't panic.

If released in the early hours of the morning.
    Ask for "Patient Transport"
If you can not get home yourself, and no one can get to you, to get you home, ask about "Patient Transport" this is the sister side of the Ambulance service to the Emergency Unit that bought you in.
Patient Transport take people out of hospital, there can be a wait as it's a limited service.

  • Goddam, I'm glad it's not worse.

  • Thing about smidsy is that however well flouroed and lit you are if a driver isn't looking, or seeing, or distracted. Then sorry mate....

  • Best wishes and heal up quick.

  • Best wishes dude.
