Not sure where to post this but I was assaulted this evening on CS3 by Canning Town recreation ground by two kids on a scooter with no reg.
They rode up behind me and pushed me from the cycle path in to the oncoming lane of traffic. Luckily there was no one oncoming and the push wasn't very hard!!
Will call 101 and report. -

Recovered bike from works garage today, it had a nice drive back in the back of the car with the heater on.
May not ride this week, bit weak from the weekend, but have swapped tyres back to the old Delta cruisers as road salting is in force and will chant "Don't lean" in my sleep tonight in case the car won't fire up in the frozen cold hell expected in the morning and i do have to ride in...... -

It was a bit cold out this morning, I've never had my water bottle start to freeze up before .

Cold 06:30am start. Super cold along the towpath - the river was frozen up in Enfield! Everything very beautiful/glittering with thick frost. Including my face after about 20 minutes.

That glittering frost was brilliant, every surface reflected back at you and shone like a shiny shimmery thing at a sparkle party.

Such a nice crisp cycle in. Though I swear the magic blue safety stripes are about 1000 times more slippery than the roads.

Are your forearms well covered? Makes a big difference to the temperature of the blood getting to your hands.

GET SOME GLOVES, YOU MANIAC!
I saw a woman yesterday who had no gloves and untaped bars. There's at least one like that every autumn/winter. Admittedly, it had warmed up a bit by the afternoon, but still.

Shorts, knee warmers, bib tights. Base layer, arm warmers, Gabba, Gilet. Glove liners, lobster claws. Double buff under the helmet. Thermal socks, shoes and overshoes.
Was actually rather pleasant the whole way in. Thank christ it wasn't wet!

Unless it's my change of route, it seems to be getting more common at crossroads with traffic lights that drivers turning right are not yielding to oncoming traffic but trying to floor it across the junction as soon as the lights change before the oncoming traffic moves off so they don't have to wait all those valuable seconds. The junction of Hornsey Road and Tollington Road seems to be a particular favourite.
As someone who likes to make a brisk start from the lights, I shall have to add this to my list of everyday dickmoves to take into account. -

Aye, that's it. Don't bother actually responding to any of the points I make. Fact is you're talking shite; you can't get run off the road if you've stopped your bike to get your phone out and txt your missus that there's a nasty man who's trying to kill you.

Mighty slide and glide performed this morning on the turn from Sidney St to CS2 ... i knew that shiny surface means something !
In commute news I have been riding Luton to dunstable alongside the bus way on a dedicated ped/bike track. It's generally fucking great.
The frost and chill this morning made for an extra pleasant trundle along the 5 miles or so. And there is a new rough road section where they are replacing the stone and clay with tarmac. They are half way through so the surface is now the base of compacted earth ready for the tarmac. This gives a lumpy but rideable off off road bit.
The dickheads with no lights/mega beam lights can do one though.
