  • I think the important thing is winning the electoral college. Maybe that's what Will is saying.

  • I can't reply for a while, I'm working on my comb over.

  • Next theme #walls

  • "ahem"... fence ..now........line in the sand next ?

  • Next theme #walls

    @fussballclub would like that one.

  • lol @marcom

well why dont we go back to one vote per username. surely he wont bother having multiple accounts.. would he??

  • (I am aware that I've just Marcom'd)

  • Hold on, I'm getting confused, who is the winner this week? @WillMelling?

  • No. @oat44 is the winner.

  • marcom is banned. If you've seen or read The Diving Bell and the Butterfly, that is more or less his relationship with us now. He can read what we write but, sadly, cannot respond. Blink once if you understand, marcom.

  • Well done @oat44.

We're going to make the LFGSSWPC great again (so great).

  • Well thank you and thanks @WillMelling for the clarification. It's funny how with all tripods and lenses I have at home that photo was taken on a little point and shoot balanced precariously on the brick edge of the canal. It was green algae being blown upstream with a 20 second time exposure. It took quite a few takes, and I left quite light headed from a choking cloud of diesel exhaust fumes from a canal boat generator lingering under the bridge.

So the theme this week, #oil
By that I was thinking of the Burtynsky series, our unhealthy reliance on it, its cycle, its bi-products, however you see fit.

  • Ooh, Burtynsky. Tricky one to do in a week but perhaps that's good inspiration to figure out ways to approach it that don't require quite as much preparation....

  • Tricky one to do in a week

There's enough motor/petrol/oil devastation all over the UK... No problem

  • Finding a high vantage point and/or a density of a repeating thing to give the kind of sense of scale that Burtynsky often employs is trickier IMHO, but yes, there's stuff to work with in this car-centric country.

  • Well done @oat44, a worthy win.

Re voting: perhaps we could vote by simply writing #oat44 (or similar) in a post, then run a script that runs through all posts from the previous week, filtering out irrelevant tags, and limiting to one vote per person?

  • Congrats @oat44 - liked that image and voted for you too.

  • Well done @oat44. I voted for @Dammit but given the voting kerfuffle I think oat is a good outcome.

    Now to Google Burtynsky.

    *Edit: oh wow...

  • Yes, there's no need to go for the Burtynsky aesthetic necessarily. The high vantage points and access to oil fields may be a little challenging for most, although the repetition / pattern element could be fun.

  • Excellent new theme. Should be able to manage this time...

  • Such poor timing, I was working at the Humber refinery last week....
