Speaking of Corbyn's 4th industrial revolution: the "Internet of Things" section from this talk is filled with absolute gold: http://idlewords.com/talks/robot_armies.htm

The bit about the armies/police is pretty depressing :/
Great read though!IBM and a few other companies have actually started an initiative on big data ethics.

At about the same level of stupid hypocrisy as the 'ban trump' campaign.

The media will be full of things you disagree with or are not interested in. I could say Football, the royal family and gardening get disproportionate coverage. The fact is lots of other people are interested. The petition is trying to censor the BBC. Stupid and wrong.
Yes he is a twat.

Yes, these things are popular.
Farage coverage is disproportionate because he is from a fringe party and is currently not in a position of power. Do you think he gets more coverage from that Tim chap who heads up the Libdems?

Good point. No one finding his views woeful and inane has ever even thought about politics. It's one of those rare venn diagrams which is just two circles with no overlap. It's a bit like how you never see an animal rights protestor caring about humans. Never happens.

He sounds like a teenager, about to pass out from a heady concoction of 2 parts all-too-well-understood Ayn Rand with one part hopelessly misunderstood Nietsche...

Yes, he does get more coverage than Tim Farron. He also got twice as many votes as Tim Farron in the last Election, and three times as many as the SNP. UKIP are not a fringe party.
The cries of "ban him" from his opponents simply proves they are losing the argument and have run out of ideas. It's depressing and pathetic.

Tim Farringdon is an mp. Far age, not so much. He can fuck off. Forever.

"The cries of "ban him" from his opponents simply proves they are losing the argument and have run out of ideas."
Not perse, the KKK was acceptable in the past and now the are not. I don't agree with bans, but it also doesn't mean somebody has lost the argument. It just means they are going the wrong way about it.
I don't agree with non-platforming Farage, but he's a xenophobic arsehole, his poster about refugees and "Europe can't cope" is beyond the pale. Nothing can be done about it as it's not legally incitement. Then there's also the Sun, the Daily Mail...it's a conversation that's become normal it seems.
Perhaps the UK does need a good word with itself on what is OK to say or not, and stop pretending a xenophobic arsehole is what the UK believes it stands for and what it is.

It has to lose an argument BTW when somebody's position is based on exploiting irrational tribal senses, xenophobia and other non-rational features of humanity.
You can't outreason the unreasonable.
The conversation could be brought back to unemployment, loss of jobs linked with identity (everyone was say a steelworker, the plants are now gone...), city vs towns, underpayment of farming etc etc. But that is what the unions/left are doing, and they don't sell the US VS THEM comfort plaster.

This is exactly right, there needs to be a conversation, with mutual respect from both sides. Farage benefits from a divided country where the level of debate is reduced to trying to ban the expressing of opinions.
But that is what the unions/left are doing, and they don't sell the US VS THEM comfort plaster.
Sadly, the left are also often pushing these kind of stupid petitions. There's "dog whistle" from both sides.
I agree with everything you say about Farage's politics, but cries to ban him increases his maverick status and plays into his hands.
