Thanks.

Oh yes forgot that. It is also pretty expensive...

...the second cheapest option is DT 350...
Where would you buy them? I like the 240/350 racket freehub so I am looking for these for cheap.

Last time I bought was wiggle.

Noob question: sp0k length calculator says I need a spoke length of 259.2mm. Spokes only come in 258 and 260, what should I go for?

need a spoke length of 559.2mm
Are you building a penny farthing?
-
• #5283
Whoops, brain fart :) edited. Anyway, internet consensus seems to heel towards going shorter but there's also some people saying to go longer. What's the #testerapproved solution for when to go longer or shorter?
-
• #5284
I always go shorter. Spokes bottoming out in the nipples means it wont have enough tension. A couple mm too short wont be enough for it to become an issue

Always

Shorter also because rims don't always match expected ERD

I'm building some Hope Mono RS to archetypes, 32h 3X for general punting about/winter/training etc... Can anyone recommend what spokes I should be getting? any good deals on anywhere?
Edd says I need:
287.9mm rear left x16
285.7mm rear right x16
290mm front left x16
289.3 front right x16Do this sound right? why would the spokes on the front be different lengths?
Many thanks in advance!

Front sounds like the result of some slightly dodgy measuring by whoever put the hub info in the calc.
If the input dims are otherwise correct, go rear (L) 16 x 288, (R) 16 x 286; front 32 x 290. -

Excellent - many thanks!

I'm planning to build an A23 rim onto a Novatec hub for a fixed rear wheel.
I was thinking 2x on both sides because that's what I've done before - is there any better suggestion?
Do I need 12mm or 14mm nipples for A23 rims?
Thanks!

DT460 or Kinlin.
-
• #5296
A23 are horrible to build and ride. Avoid if you can.
-
• #5297
Nipple length doesnt matter. I'm not entirely sure it even effects spoke length. What spoke count? For 28-36H I'd just use 3x. Less than 28H might not work depending on the angle it'll lead the spokes

Where can I walk in and buy DT R460 rims in London (32h)? I doubt I'll find them cheaper than http://www.starbike.com/en/dt-swiss-r-460/?currency=GBP&gclid=Cj0KEQiA39_BBRD0w-_rmOrc__8BEiQA-ETxXVkXJSVFRvEoETxP_FRvOfHPw-CSuXkF-OySdXn2c1EaAqt08P8HAQ
Anyone want to group buy? -

Longer nipples only needed if the rim has some kind of deep eyelet/insert or epicly thick spoke bed or a very deep V that means not all the flat is showing and you can't get a spoke key on it.
Standard alloy rims you won't need them.
For lightweight, whichever stans are <380g or those BOR366 something someone on here used in a current project that were 380g. WTB stuff is generally recommended by the forum but bit heavier. And Enve CX rims obv, get that money gun back out
