Oh my the days when I cycled through epic rain and had wet feet the whole evening at that pub when we had the first pizza do.

That was a great night, will have to go west again, tho the Uxbridge Rd can fuck the fuck off. I'm convinced there is a northwest passage without transiting the arctic of the A406 and it's Hanger Lane Gyratory System.

It was so nice to see you guys!! Thank you for visiting, it made my night :) x
-
• #24968
I did it.
-
• #24969
Where were you heading that got you onto Hanger Lane gyro?
There are cycle paths under that massive roundabout if you can be fucked using them. -
• #24970
Have you seen my untappd profile?

I was speculating on a more direct route from Ealing to Wood Green, possibly using the Norf Circlier, rather than going into town and back out again. It seems to be a choice of either HGV infested mega-roads or tortious twisty turny back roads.
I have ridden the North Circular before, not a pleasant experience, but it was on the way home from a Coldplay concert so not actually the low point of the evening.

Yep, the North Circular is pretty much the only planned alternative to the radial nature of London's main west and north thoroughfares.
You do have the (non-) option of the Grand Union Canal footpath from Camden,
which would take you to Greenford or Hanwell. -

Ealing to Wood Green
I would probably do my commute, which would be Uxbridge, Euston Road to Regents Park and then head north east. I like straight lines as much as possible though, even if extra distance.

Uxbridge, Euston Road to Regents Park
Pretty much what we did, but we cut the corner off by going up Sussex Gardens. I share your straight road fetish. When you look on the map the difference from the crow flies line is not that big, especially if you add in all the zig-zagging up residential streets you'd have to do to. But the Uxbridge Road is, well, a bit shit.
Grand Union Canal footpath from Camden, which would take you to Greenford or Hanwell.
That falls squarely in the "life's too short" category.

Yeah Sussex Gardens is my route because I also hate Oxford St and most everything near it.
How very dare you! fUxbridge Road is my daily driver! Which bit? I don't find it too bad except that time I nearly died and oh that other time I nearly died and oh that one time with the crazy Jag driver and and and :)
Awesome work, cheers.
