I've got a North Effects tonebender clone and its a bit underwhelming. Sometimes its great, but sometimes its not good at all. Its also very noisy in the line when switched off.

My Reuss Fuzz Repeater sounds great with the built in and other fuzzes going through it, where is it in your chain? I'd go wah > fuzz > repeater for best results...

Some bloke popped up on FB looking to trade his Polytune Noir for a Boss TU-3 plus cash... I figured he'd want cash his way, he wound up giving me 40 bucks!?! And it's a mini!?! Well pleased, the TU-3 is rubbish...

Just given it a whirl, bloody lovely... That bloke was mad, apparently he couldn't get it to tune drop D on his bass, I'm unconvinced... Works beautifully... 10/10, will bang repeatedly...

Some people just can't be bothered to read the instructions / want a classic on their board. I'm totally with you, the Polytune is great. I've got a full size white one (would've preferred mini and black but they'd sold out) and it's still aces.

@BleakRefs Totally!
The tracking on the TU-3 is shite, took me three times longer to tune up, not ideal when you're onstage... My TU-2 was way better... The Polytune is just bloody sexy, and amazing that you can simply strum an open chord and it tells you which strings are out and in which direction... I'm in love with a fuckng guitar tuner, deffo need to get out a bit more... #smalltownlife #dork

Here's the pedal, Tim, Kim and I worked on... I didn't do much tbh, just put the face plate artwork together... Two fuzzes in one, a Superfuzz-ish super fat, big fuzz and a thinner Fuzzder fuzz to reproduce Tony Thewlis's tone on the Scientists' classic Murderess in a Purple Dress... One of the greatest fuzztone drenched songs ever!
Mine's ready to pick up, can't wait! Tried the first production version on Sunday and it's a total beast...

One more thing... I put a track down today, there's loads of feedbacky, fuzzy, tremelo'd guitar on it so I used my Tokai Str*t, only guitar I've got with a tremolo 'til I get a Jaguar....
Fuck me! It sounds fantastic, I can hear every single guitar part perfectly even tho' there are up to three fuzz pedals on at once at times... It sits in the mix so well...
Troubling developments for a confirmed Strat hater...

My signal chain would be, Guitar > Tuner > Wah > Overdrive > Fuzz > Boost > Modulation effects > Reverb > Delay > Amp, for best results...
I don't have an effects loop on any of my amps...

Delay advice please...
I want a slapback, an epic solo delay and a reverse effect... Must be able to preset, what do I go for? Small is better, I've gone off the idea of the RE20... Boss would be ideal, lots around secondhand but which one?

I doesn't matter how much you think you don't like them, at some point everyone changes their mind ;)
-
• #4441
Why not the RE20? It's really good and I wish I hadn't sold mine, although having said that, I haven't used anything more recent and have stuck with an EHX DMM which is noisy, lo-fi and non-preset :D
I should add that after looking at prices for modern DSP verb/delay pedals last year, I picked up an Alesis midiverb 4 for synth ambience, which was under a ton and sounds great!
-
• #4442
It's so big! And I don't think I really need it, something simple with a few presets should suffice... For now... 😃
But the Midiverb is rackmounted, I feel enough of a tit with my monster pedalboard as it is!
-
• #4443
Oh yeah, I don't think rackmount stuff is that great for guitar but it's an option if you're primarily studio based or just experimenting before committing to the big ticket pedals.
What you need is a tech/robot switching it all for you offstage - I used to have all my pedals racked with a midi loop switch controlled from ableton. It is fucking brilliant not having to worry about tap dancing and getting everything out from under your feet on a small stage! -

I used to have an Olympic white Jag. Lovely looking guitar, but that bridge is appalling and poor design. Flogged mine in the end.
-
• #4445
According to my mate the original Jag bridge is absolutely fine, the problem lies with people not knowing how to set them up properly...

100% agree on that. My Jag, someone had replaced the bridge with a Mustang bridge, which received internet wisdom says is the best way of doing things. But I wanted to try the original so bought one, installed it, and its far superior. That whole floating bridge idea is aces for tremolo, and makes the whole guitar feel more sinuous and more like a living thing. I think it is fussy design, but I don't think it's bad design.
Incidentally, on the whole strat hate thing - my Jag has a modified tone pot that rolls off the very Jaggish top end to strat levels. Not great for playing live but for layering it's a sweet addition. I recommend it.

I'm a total no0b when it comes to Jags but I've played a lot of them in the last year, enough to know I want one... Would love this one but it's way out of my price range, sounds soooooo sweet...

Delay presets smreesets. Marker pen/nail polish/gaff/scratch yr favourite settings into the case!
To be honest I could probably find a delay that does what I want (slapback) that takes up far less space than my current whopping Danelectro Echo. Will def have a look about once i've finished unpacking and setting up the studio (so 2019).

I loved my danelectro echo, but it died on me. Replaced it with a Belle Epoch and never looked back.

Mine was set up in Wunjo, but the vibration from playing kept making the teeny screws unwind and drop out. Still think its one of the best looking guitars in town, but I got a les paul shortly afterward and stuck to that ever since.
He was our biggest fan, and the guys from Daft Punk before they were Daft Punk... We used to get fan mail from them... Got to the point where I chucked it straight in the bin... 😂😬
We sold about ten records... ðŸ˜
