Awesome - any reason you're not taking the Croix De Fer other than just cos? Hope it's still getting some love. Enjoy and wrap up.

My reasons where, I plan on going off road for portions, although not off enough to warrant the use of my 29er enough that its enough that mudguards and pasalas would suck. So the Macho Man is a good compromise - fast enough on road with the ability to go off road. I plan on doing some fire road exploration up in the Brecon forests.
Genesis is taking a break after last months touring in France, the front brake went a bit spongy and the pads wont centre so its going to get serviced whilst in in Wales.
I went out at lunch to by some heattech termals for the nights so I should be ok! Thanks!

Even Alfine will work wither either XTR/6870/9070. More interested in the frame/tyre combo. Northern winter?

Yeah, it's from Finland. Here's the build thread (in Finnish). He built the frame himself. Really interesting indeed.

Hate the paint, totally doesn't do the detailing any service, but that bike is all kinds of awesome.

I don't like the paint too, but it's functional and not for the looks. Paint has survived the fist size rocks banging on the downtube, but the cranks are pretty beaten-up.
It needs fenders to be more functional in it's current mode, but there are not many fenders which could be used with 650B Ice Spikers.
I build it to be year-round bike.
Selling a Surly front rack if anyone wants to get their functional on
