• Try driving down Downham Way at 20mph and see what happens. The other drivers go spare.

  • I wouldn't give a fuck about the feelings of someone who didn't give a fuck about my life.

Scream blue murder at them for all I care. Who gives a fuck if they get upset, at least they might think twice about putting someone else's life in danger for their convenience in the future.

  • Mainly because it's pretty obvious that using calm reason is likely to be more successful than
    'just screaming like a mentaloid',
isn't it? Do you actually need YouTube helmet cam vids to guide you on this? I don't think you really do.

Except often when anus clenchingly close passes or other acts of pointless aggression happen it gives a massive shot of a very powerful drug into the system which takes a lot of conscious effort & discipline to override especially when that person reacts with such disdain at first & you see them again up the road so you're already in a kind of attack mode.

We've evolved to get angry in the face of aggression or to run from it so that coupled with adrenaline is why a lot of people lose their shit. Especially if it's not the first act of aggression against you in the day.

It's perhaps worth mentioning that calm reasoned logic doesn't always work. It rather largely depends on who you are dealing with. There are many psychological principals at work in any confrontation or encounter. Obviously myself and other cyclists are not such experts at dealing with people who recklessly endanger our lives as you, so for us who have a tendency to be a little hot headed, this video can be a useful reminder to make the effort to try to remain very calm while every instinct in your body is screaming attack/defend/shout/run! seemingly simultaneously.

As far as results go, I personally think she is far less likely to do it again than if she had been completely unchallenged or had been screamed at & not because she thought it was wrong but because she won't want a repeat of that experience but I guess we can't know for sure unless she turns up again on youtube.

Also what Scilly Suffolk said. Although attempting, on top of everything, to explain in a coherent way that the average driver can understand, why cyclists take primary might be a wish too far.

  • Nah, she'll just go home, tell someone about the incident over a cup of tea and a Krispy Kreme, and within seconds the conversation will turn to why cyclists think they own the road.

  • is that an adult?

  • Is she taking photos of her fingers?

  • Wear a massive coat for anonymity, flick the Vs at photographers.

Ms Pearson, wearing a jacket with a faux fur collar and grey top

    http://www.standard.co.uk/news/crime/driver-denies-threatening-behaviour-in-road-rage-row-with-bbcs-jeremy-vine-a3390306.html

Those little fauxs once roamed free.

  • Shanique Pearson, 22, allegedly shouted at

    Allegedly?

  • She pleaded not guilty to all three counts.

for jury duty I had a fraud case; the accountant for a big construction company had been spending/gambling company money and her defence was that it was a big tax scam - this allegation was swiftly debunked when the MD of the company clarified that it would be diffucult for him to claim business expenses on "indiana jones and the crystal skull" or William Hill.

My point is; When there is clear video footage of the incident - what could possibly merit a plausible defence for any of the charges?

  • what could possibly merit a plausible defence for any of the charges?

    A largely anti-cyclist public/jury...

  • We don't know what her legal defence is yet - assuming she has one.
But I can't think of an obvious one or indeed one likely to convince a magistrate (this won't go to jury trial as I understand although no mention has been made about the next appearance)

  • They should do a poster campaign saying if you drive dangerously your coat will get slagged off in the Standard.

  • Vine claims that at the end of the incident while pulling away: "She
made a finger of her right hand into a gun and mocked fired at me."

But Abigail Bright for the defence dismissed that claim as "rubbish".

She added: "There's nothing to corroborate that."

She also argued that the video footage from Mr Vine
could have been "doctored or edited".

She said Ms Pearson claims Vine ride out in her path without making a
hand signal and she feared she would hit him. She said she was in
"shock" and that led to her confronting Mr Vine about his riding.

She said: "She was frightened she would knock him off. The video does
not give a full account of events."

  • <Thanks. More of an attack than a defence then: rubbish the evidence and the integrity/actions of the witness/victim.
Let's hope this doesn't go before the openly cyclist-hating magistrate.

  • she feared she would hit him. She said she was in

if she was so fucking frightened of knocking him off why the fuck did she drive so close?

    utter cunt

  • I think she is going to go with the "vine made me do it" plea, which will swiftly be responded with "so vine made you drive an uninsured car? lol"

  • what the fuck is her barrister doing?

  • what the fuck is her barrister doing?

    Earning money out of it.

  • She won't be a barrister. In my experience of south London motorists being represented in magistrates courts she'll be a second rate solicitor with barely any understanding of road traffic law who has done absolutely no prep. Perhaps I've just been lucky that the people that hit me can't afford decent lawyers.

  • When you get caught on video it's really hard to work around. From what I can tell they want to talk as much as possible about another threat with making a gun sign with her hand that isn't clearly on the video so that the very clear threat on the video can try and slip by.

It's going to fail hugely and she will get done and have a bigger legal bill than the fine would have been anyway lol

  • Nasty crash between car and cyclist in Thorton Heath. Warning, its grim.

  • Why did we need to see that?

  • Not sure, I can take it off?

  • Ah glad you've put a warning on it - I'm now off to cleanse my memory. Where's the reboot switch?
