  • @Thrasher In. It's only there certain Saturday/Sundays though.

Also in if I can make it. Do you know when they'll be there next? Their various pages don't seem to say. (I don't actually mind that, happy to come along at short notice if I can.)

  • Great to see it all happening in Deptford again. I still have very fond memories of Heather's.

  • Cool Ed, although if I'm going it'll probably be during the day at the weekend with the boy in tow. Is the poutine vegan??

  • I've only had the veggie version but I'm pretty sure they can make everything on the menu vegan.

  • I'll be around the area on Saturday so I might head on over there and pick something up... if they're there that is... thanks for the in depth review @Cazakstan ;)

  • Haha, no worries, enjoy!

  • Any of you tried Tyne Chease? Looks yummy!

  • Anyone been to Cuba? I'm about to fly to Havana, and have been uniformly told that it's a fantastic place with terrible food, especially if you don't eat meat. Would welcome any tips.

  • Just say the film 'Before the flood' . Talks about climate change and what we need to do to reduce its impact before it's too late if it isn't already too late. One of the discussions is about giving up meat especially beef which has a massive environmental impact. Worth a look if you haven't seen it.

I was there about ten years ago. Doubt it's changed much. We struggled even to get vegetarian food when eating out. Sorry to confirm that report.

  • Yeah, nothing's changed. Cuba is a cold place for vegans. Fortunately, it's hot and cool in the right places for everything else. Carried a load of nuts, cereal bars etc and had a great time other than at mealtimes.

  • Fancy going to a Mexican-themed Festive Fiesta pop-up at Bodega 50 in Stokey? It's The Little Cooking Pot's monthly supper club and the menu is:

Tickets are here (£25 + booking fees). I e-mailed to check and everything (including the mulled wine) is vegan!

  • Be warned. I went to one of their events a while ago. Tiny tiny portions, I left starving.

  • I was wondering how they could offer so many courses.

For some reason, someone told me a while ago that Bodega 50 had closed--glad to hear that wasn't true.

Hm, I'd be well up for a pre-Christmas meal but not sure about this one now.

Should we try to reactivate the (previously none too popular) plan to visit Persepolis?

  • Persepolis have a christmas feast offer on

I assumed it was on one day (ie xmas day) but turns out it's not, by sounds of it you can pick a day in December. I'm sure @Miss_Mousecan clarify

  • Thanks for the heads-up :) I'll have an afternoon snack and take a thermos full of mulled wine with me!

  • Up for a meet up

  • So, can we have more yays or nays for the Persepolis Christmas menu?

I appreciate Saturdays in December are probably full for most. I'm busy on the 3rd and the 10th with various Christmas parties but could do Saturday the 17th. Would that work for you, Simon, Kat, and Oli? Anyone else? I could do a Sunday, too, if that's not possible.

    I like this:

Vegans are very welcome, but please advise us in advance so that we can cater for you magnificently rather than adequately.

  • 17th works for me :)

  • I'm not around the 17th but Simon might be

  • Anyone for ice skating?
    This is kind of gross.

  • Link here:

    https://www.theguardian.com/world/2016/nov/28/anger-as-japanese-skating-rink-freezes-thousands-of-fish-into-ice-as-gimmick

The 'rays' in the picture you pasted in are apparently just photos under the ice, but some people thought they were animal corpses like the other 'exhibits'.

(I don't see freezing animal corpses in skating ice as any more objectionable than eating them.)

  • Hmm. I'm ok with eating them but sticking them in a play area for visual flair seems crass. At least it's just fish...
