Been looking at insuring a defender... am i doing it wrong...?
Seem to be getting quotes ranging from £1200 - £2200. I am 28 and have been driving (not continuously) for 11 years but don't have a NCB (through being insured on someone elses policy rather than crashes)
does that sound a ball park for insurance these days, i always thought by the time i reached this grand old age i would be paying two lolly pops and an old front tyre.

I have only been driving for 3 years and recently had a quote from Admiral for £177. This is for an Audi 80 Cabriolet
-
• #30938
Try Admiral (other insurers are available) ask for a classic policy if its available.
-
• #30939
what year?
the price might go up for the older models because security and lack thereof. not by that much mind you. try admirals / churchill etc and sack off price comparison sites - they're a fucking con. Just make sure you get your details 100% correct and don't skimp on the mileage.
might be less if you name a second driver as well.

No NCB is a big deal, potentially your postcode could be too, depends where you live.

was a 57 plate @greenhell.
yeah @NurseHolliday, the person on the phone said London was a hot spot.
Will keep searching....
-
• #30942
As @greenhell said, keep adding drivers until the quote stops going down

I just drove the 850 for the first time in a couple of weeks, it's interesting what contrasts jumping out of one car and into another bring forward.
The Volvo is a performance car - it's got Koni adjustable dampers, Eibach springs, AP brakes, and just shy of 400 horsepower. It feels like driving a sofa after the 911. A fast sofa, but still a sofa.
This does however mean that I get to appreciate a different aspect of the Volvo, and probably stop trying to make it into something it isn't. I'm having AP brakes fitted to the rear, and might get some sort of valve placed in the exhaust (it booms at lower revs being on a 3" pipe, I'd like to get rid of that noise at cruising speeds), but I think that's probably where I'll stop now.
