Gonna start saving up for a Superted... if I could put aside £2.5k, that should be enough for a good F&F with reynolds 853 or similar and all the lush bits and bobs? I am just starting my research of what I want, but if I have a more than enough budget to aim for then, it'd make my dream more realisitc and less distant...

you talking about whole bike cost?

just the F&F... I was looking at some other frame builders who have a price list and basic one is about 1.5k F&F... and if I am going custom, I'd want more than a basic one... hence the 2.5k guess... too much? too little?

For an 853 frame I'd put it around £1.5k. Unless you add lots of fancy bits like internal dynamo wiring, although I've got no idea what Ted's prices are.
Rough guide:

Around £1.5k sounds about right for an 853 frame. Between £3-400 for forks.
Then add in paint...

So £2.5k sounds about right then... I do want internal wiring and have a few ideas I want to push for... On Superted's website, he says get in touch for pricing, but won't do it just yet as I would be taking a piss with very little idea what I want and have zero money put aside... yet...

I'd agree with Ed, once you've got £500 saved drop him a line, his waiting list is probably fairly long so you don't want to have saved the money then find out you've 18 months to wait.

By the way, I've put together a website that lists all the frame builders in the UK (and Ireland) that I can find. It's not finished but the bulk of it is done.

Fantastic work!

Great work, Henry!

It looks as if he's still not fully set up, but it might be worth enquiring.
Previously on here as @Cosmonaut .

That's great, thanks.

I am thinking about in about 2 years time as I have just bought a new frame last month... so that gives me a year or so to get some ideas of what I want and see how much can I really save up...

I didn't realise there was a (n embryonic) thread, which Tenderloin has just bumped:

Good initiative.
Do you count Pretorius as UK (despite the frames being fabricated in China I think?)
Is Oak Cycles now defunct?
-
• #243
Nice work Henry.

• #244
I'm not sure about Pretorius, I'll look in to them. It's more about if the bulk of the operation is in the UK.
Oak, Ryan, has moved back to Canada. -

I didn't know that - bit of a loss to London frame building.

a bit jumbled up when viewing in Explorer?

There's Swarf Cycles in Dorset.
Also maybe BTR Fabrications. Mostly otp, but made in the UK ( Somerset ) and they offer custom geometry too.

Completely untested for IE/Edge. Get Chrome.

No affiliate links? :'(

No, it's a bit hard when not linking directly to a webshop. I may shove some Google ads on the side.
Ah! Europe! That takes us back!
