  • If you ever feel peckish on the way home, avoid the KFC at Tottenham Hale. They don't do beans.

    /irrelevant

  • Oh no, first your flat and now hearing a cyclist you know died :(

    Hope you're OK...

  • Not certain that's what Velocio meant.

  • @Batt ... On your commute... just turn on the heating half an hour earlier #homeoffice

  • I do that with my commute - 12 miles each way - but with dad duties it is easier to ride in one day, and ride home the next.

  • Hmm, Brompton would entail a 3 mile ride on a busy and fast dual carriageway to Harlow Town. Or alternatively 4 miles on a slightly terrifying national speed limit country road to Roydon station. Not sure I could go fast enough on a Brompton to feel safe.

Either way would also entail a 10 mile ride from Tottenham Hale to Victoria by Brompton.

Now, I've not tried a Brompton before, so maybe that'd be fine but I imagine at 6'6" I might struggle?

@Marron I don't necessarily mind riding around in the dark, but it gets boring filtering in the dark in the bleak wasteland between Tottenham and Cheshunt.

  • now hearing a cyclist you know died

Thankfully you read that wrong... I knew a 21yr old cyclist had died there because I changed the logo to black. I didn't know the 21yr old cyclist.

  • OK, tx, I misread that.

Still very sad of course... :(

  • Haha, pretend commutes count too right?

Long bibs ordered. We should get some early pre-work rides in before it gets stupid dark!

  • First ride in for a few months now... lovely and crisp, should've worn sunnies but not going to complain... ped stepped out on me with his dog on Kensington Church St but apart from that, it was pretty damn good 9/10

  • hmmm didnt know which forecast to believe today, BBC had 0 degrees, others had 4 degrees - went for the full monty of layers, ended up a sweaty layer of wool base layers and sticky insidey glovey thing
    was 6 degrees!

dry, drivers good, badger guts not there, so cannot complain.

  • Woman behind beeps me as I pass a turning truck. Obviously I flip her off and tell her to fuck the fuck off. She has go at me because her precious spawn might get upset with me flipping mummy off. Cue me explaining the road rules to her at the next red and her leaving flipping me off. Oh how we chuckled.

London commuting seems more sucky these days. Are there more cunts on the roads or have I just reached some kind of risk/reward saturation point where I'm now tired of dodging ped cunts running into the road, tired of avoiding all the left/right hooks from dickfuck drivers or what? I dunno. Maybe this is what happens when you get old, just before you move into the countryside somewhere.

  • I had wee shites running into the road trying to stop me yesterday. Stayed friendly... just "hey don't do that it's dangerous!"

Then one of them threw a pebble further down. That's when I did lose my rag.

Any tips? They don't mean harm I doubt, but it feels threatening (even if they don't mean it)

  • Call the popo.

    Next.

  • Defo more anger out there. Left work at 4pm yesterday and was enjoying a commute without hordes of bike commuters, but really noticed the motorized lot shouting, swearing and beeping each other.

  • Slaughter them all

  • Slower riders being overtaken, catching me up at the next red light and positioning themselves a bike length ahead just over to my right. Aaarggh, fuck off!

  • or head to the velo park thing for a pre-work sesh?

  • Potholed N/S superhighway in dark autumn evenings + 100s of flashing bike lights all around + dick mamil moves = trippy & stressy.

Bring back the old roads, I wanna get off.

  • The CS1 route across the junction of Old Street and Great Eastern Street is absolutely awful. It needlessly sets up cyclists and pedestrians in conflict. I'm sure this has been done before, but it annoys me every day, twice a day.

  • some unpleasantness on kennington park road this morning resulting in the rat runs around there becoming clogged with single occupant cars and their drivers sitting in an extended parking lot.

looked like a van and a scooter. hope all is ok

  • For 10 year olds? Popo a bit harsh mebe?

  • Next time it could be a brick.

  • If they are throwing pebbles not a bit of it.

  • To the guy in Richmond Park last night who had hit a deer, I hope you got home ok.

If anyone is rolling through there in the dark make sure you have a good light and stay out from the verge.
