CRC only have 1.85 - probably nicely match to my skinny rims but too skinny?

Rocket Rons are good as a rear tyre with a more aggressive front for winter riding. I wouldn't put them on the front for a winter race though. Nics or something else.
@AdsH knows his race tyres.
I'll be 'racing' at Crowthorne this weekend on a racing ralph rear and a nic up front.
