Crank bros Cobalt has a stack height of 21mm. Bearing sheilding is fucking shit though, so either pump full of grease or buy better bearings.

Thanks yea I'd read that but wasn't pulling up much in the way of current options. I'm using an ITM stem, I guess the Giant stem would lower the top bolt.
@ùbér_grùbér thanks, is it definitely in 1" as well as 1 1/8?
If @mdcc_tester is right, then is there an option for a much lower top cover? From what I see it's that top cover that takes a lot of vertical real estate.

I'm running the SC1 with no top cover on the Tandem, it's fine to have the stem pressing on the collet with nothing in between.

I thought the Cobalt headsets ran the balls direct in the cups, making bearing replacement impossible. Also, they were discontinued a long time ago and I don't recall there ever being a 1" version. Apart from that, top advice :)

Must've been a 1 1/8 steerer on that bike then-one bearing was cartridge the other caged i think.
Tange TGR is 23mm and campag record 24mm. Both 1" threadless. Paired with an ITM millennium stem?

Look at velosolo, they have a tange tgr threadless 1" headset with a stack height of 22mm, listed at £11.

Thanks. An extra 5mm won't get the steerer up to the second stem bolt, but close enough I'd hope.

Hello knowledgeable people!
I can't find example on google image... maybe because it is a bad idea and nobody bothered...
I could try but I'd rather not un-tape unnecessarily my bars if it's a no no.Will Cinelli criterium bars work / look good with brifters? (Shimano RX 100 http://www.euroasiaimports.com/ProductCart/pc/RX100-c1394.htm )

It can, those shifters were made to work with classic shape bar better to begin with.
-

I think they'd be improved if you mounted them lower down the bend than that, but it's a bit awkward-looking. 9/10sp era Campagnolo would work better I'd imagine - hoods position will be minimally useful with either, but if you spend most of your time in the hooks/drops doesn't matter so much

OK thanks guys... that's enough to decide me to un wrap the tape and give it a go...!

Do bear in mind that if you're used to riding on the hood of your brake lever, those will be slightly longer.

Who forgot to put their clocks back last night? As usual I was the only one prepared to get up at two in the morning to do it throughout the house.
-
• #79816
You do know you can do it before you go to bed don't you? Or when you get up.

Hard not to forget.

Who is still using clocks which are set manually?

Next you'll be saying that people don't wind clocks anymore.

Or just get ones that automatically reset themselves according to your timezone/preferences - sometimes referred to as atomic clocks.

That's fine, partly my choice for criteriums, the Nitto stem I absolutely want to use is a bit on the short side (was a one off NOS one on hubjub) so from that point of view it's ok... Don't think it looks bad.
[Edit] looking at it again, I hope once black bar tape is on, brifters will look a bit less out of proportion... Maybe I should shift them down a little

When setting-up "classic bend" bars, I put the hooks on a flat surface and set the levers so that the tip touches said flat surface.
Yours don't look far off, just a little lower perhaps.

Right, I've read tens of conflicting articles on the interweb and asked numerous people.
What is the definitive answer on using an 11 spd Ultegra casette with 11 spd Campag chain and chainset (Chorus)?
Answers on a postcode of your choice appreciated.
I think you answered your own question there, unless anybody knows of anything under 25mm
