I built a hack just for fun... had the same mind set as you... but once I got into Hacks I found I enjoyed the tinkering, knowing what does what, and the getting most power for your money. There are a couple of nice PC cases too. Mines in the smallest I could find and sits in my record cabinet under my TV, plays games better than my iMac...

I'm tempted to run a hackintosh and hide it under my desk. Then I start reading up about putting together a pc and I quickly get reminded about why Apple stuff is worth the premium
