  • I popped in here after a session at the track. Really friendly staff and took a lot of trouble to find a bottom bracket for me that was stored away.

  • Big up to Paradise Cycles on Roman Road for trying their hardest to help me out of an unthreading bottom bracket/unextractable crank conundrum last week. Louie (sp?) was super helpful and patient, lent me tools and then refused to take payment because he hadn't completely fixed the problem.

FYI Louie if you're reading this (you did say you were on here) there are a couple of other ways to remove a crank with knackered extraction threads - one is a gear puller, the other, which I found the easiest, is to remove the bolt and ride (hard) until it works loose.

  • I went into Paradise Cycles on Roman Road yesterday not long before closing and they happily installed a cog and lockring for me. The mech also adjusted my soon to be nonexistent rear brake. He then had the audacity not to accept my money! Alternate payment of beers was accepted.

    About

The Stayer Cycles workshop is in Leytonstone, East London.

We started professionally in the bicycle business in 2012 with De Vlo and were co directors of Isambard's Cycles in Bethnal Green for three years. In 2015 we stepped out of the shop business to enable us to focus on the development of our engineering and manufacturing skills full time, taking our work in the direction of building frames and very fine wheels.

Older 'vintage' bicycles is where we started and that interest in cycling history and love of beautifully manufactured older components keeps us on the look out for them. We keep learning in this way as well. Seeing how frames have been put together in the past very much informs what we do.

  • Whats the bike shop/mechanixs thats at the top of kingsland road, near shoreditch junction? Closed down now? Noticed over past week or two they were closed and emptying the premises

  • Do you mean near Dalston Junction?

    Barclay's?

  • No. Right at the 4 way junction. Next door is the shoreditch house/pub or something

  • I've been into the stayer cycles, really friendly and helpful.
    Def reccomend them.

  • Oh, the Hackney Peddler 3?

I had no idea, saw the owner just today and he didn't mention it.

  • Went into CycleLab on Pitfield St last night for an emergency inner and the miserable cunt who worked there told me to turn my lights off! No! (I did)

  • Hi Crispin_Glover,

I asked you to turn your front light off, because all your 300 or so lumens were flashing in my "miserable cunt" face. Not sure why that is an issue?! Than i asked if you needed help, and like a grumpy toddler you just ignored me... Just thought i share my side of the story!
    Krisz (that miserable cunt)

  • Pwned

  • Excellent

  • I've always had friendliness and good coffee from the people at Cyclelab.

    Just sayin.

  • OG fight, this will have to go to a Rollas spin-off (where Krisz would have Kriszpin's guts for garters).

  • Haha, you signed up just to say that, christ. Welcome to the forum, get a helmet.

  • For the avoidance of doubt I did respond with "no I'm alright thanks" then proceeded to spend 10 hard earned pounds. Must have chain lube in your ears.

  • Krisz has been on here for years.

    You belm.

  • Never heard of him

  • Nope, still nothing

  • Haha, you signed up just to say that, christ. Welcome to the forum, get a helmet.

    Keep digging

  • See above

  • He has been on here for a couple of years, just not an active poster. Unless he went back in time to do his first post.
