  • Fuuuuck i'm so jealous

  • I need to go cheap next year, bulgaria or andorra?

  • ooo When are you in Zermatt ? I'm not there till March (but always there week of St Paddys, every year for 15+ years now)

  • Sorry mate, we always go in January. This is my eleventh year of going. The place has its flaws but its addictive! We tend to go to Saas-Fee straight afterwards for a bit of relative normality.

  • ahh right. I like it there, but more just because of the food, sun, people I know who live there.
Just sorting out Whistler, Breckenridge and a few other trips for this year :)

  • We always self cater so don't often eat in restaurants.

The main draw for us is the scenery and accessibility to decent mountain routes. Skiing is a bonus.

  • Just booking a kosovo\macedonia powder hunting adventure...excited and nervous all at the same time...hope it snows and there are no wars.

  • Lucky bugger. So far all I've got planned is a couple of days in Grimentz over New Year. Have you been to Zermatt before? In particular, do you know where the Bar With No Name in the old part of town is? It's like Rapha. Nice but pricey.

  • Yes, every year for 11 years. Not that we are creatures of habit...

No, haven't seen that bar. We don't tend to go out much in the evening. Way too tires usually.

Saas-fee are doing a oretty cool promotion at the moment. Season pass for 222chf, three year pass for 568chf and a fifteen year pass for 3000chf IF they get 99,999 people to sign up for one of the deals before end of November.

Long shot but they're already over 10% of the way there after a couple of days...

  • 4 days in St Anton in Jan for me.

Most importantly it's a child free holiday (in-laws looking after MiniGB) so expecting horrendous hangovers.

  • brexit have really fucked us skiers.

Exactly the same dates, accom i had last year is £150 more expensive and it was a right shit hole

basically cant find anything half board in france for < 700 with lift passes

  • anything half board in france for < 700 with lift passes

    Try UCPA?

I've been to a few of these, Tignes, Val D'Isere, Serre Ch. Mostly french people so the English speakers have to fend for themselves. I usually go with massive group so not so bad.

  • I'm feeling your pain here, I'm glad I got to go Zermatt in March, can't afford much now. Anyone see anything cheap for January?

  • Has potential! thanks mands

Basically i need more skiing friends i think

  • some good stuff is discounted generally plus a good percentage off for black friday available over on glisshop

  • Best way to book?

got cheap flights to grenoble for 50.

Just want a ski pass ski hire and accom package

  • first weekend skiing in Tahoe. Was great, but I really need to do more exercise in the summer. Legs are sore :)

  • The redbull tv series The Horn is well worth a watch. Details what Air Zermatt do on a daily basis, including crevasse rescue. That's in the first episode, and there's lots of blood, so don't watch if you're squeamish!

  • After a hardshell to replace a waterproof parka that ive been skiing in the last few years, no insulation, max £250, any recs? Salomon dont seem to be hitting very highly in the reviews from the last few years for jackets.. im thinking patagonia snowshot?

  • Some decently priced things from Arcteryx and Sweet Protection on sportpursuit right now. No experience of the Snowshot but Patagonia stuff is usually pretty goid IME

  • My Haglofs shell I got on sale for around £250. 2 full seasons in and it's still more waterproof than any other jacket I've owned. Again, they pop up on sportpursuit every now and then. Just find something Gore-tex that you like the look of, and is in the sale!

  • haglofs shell
sale on site which can't be named
    gore-tex

    this so much
I've owned a fair few jackets and this is amazing.
    those scandos do great stuff

@rogan - purple jacket in the porch area, check it out

  • ta all

  • 2 pairs of skis up for grabs:

    1. free pair of Line chronics. They're 179cm, 2010 or 2011. Centre mounted Marker bindings set up for 28.5 mondo- this is the only time they've been drilled so should be ok to move the bindings. They have seen some action - a couple of scrapes on the base and nicks to edges, but waxed and edged professionally last year before being ridden for a grand total of 2 days.

    2. 2015 183 Black Crows Corvus with salmon bindings (can't remember which - they're the ones you can convert to use with touring boots). Again, first mount, 28.5 in manufacturers recommended position. Used for one week, unfortunately I managed to chip the lacquer on end of one of them, but other than that they're in amazing condition. Amazing skis which I will be sad to see go.
      £350 for a forumer

No posting. Collection from Herne hill, evenings or weekends.

  • It's finally snowing in the alps!
