I've had to send my Hope lights for repair several times (Vision 2, District+). Mostly to do with dodgy connections with the cables or battery packs. No issue doing it, even out of warranty but yeah it costs a bit if you send then special delivery.
That said, they're more reliable in the wet and have better mounts than any Cateye I ever had.
Yeah, agreed - and that's partially why I'd like to buy some - but in my last 50,000 miles of cycling (and I do a lot at night) I think I've only had one break (Moon) and that was cheap enough to chuck out. My Hope and Lezyne lights seem to have have been in almost continuous rotation during that time and never failed (if they had, I'd have been royally fucked at times).
To be fair, I'm sure there are others who've had the same situation in reverse though..
