Atleast last year you could get a basic 4130-frameset from orlo for 400 euros, not sure about the prices currently. Mielec with any options is 200-300 euros plus you need to buy fork separately.

Been looking at that for a while but they won't ship to the UK, otherwise it'd have been a done deal!
If 4130 is about that price from orlowski then that is very tempting, I will email him this week to find out more.

I'm sure there's someone on here in Italy who'd help you out if you asked nicely.

Hey guys, I currently plan to start a small business with bike building and I want to work with Mielec for main frame supplier. I have a few questions:
- Does anyone weighted the finished frame? I know there's lots of variations but at least I know where to start.
- Checked a few pages here and there, seems they sometimes mess up the colors, is it advised to get frames painted?
- How is the build quality as the price for a frame is more than decent.
Thanks!

I think my standard mash copy in xl is 1800 grams or so. They did screw up the paint in some cases, I ordered mine in green and they sent me a message that they didnt have that paint anymore (3 years ago). The frames are very strong, havent heard about any problems and mine still goes strong.

I've actually went thru all 200 pages to get an idea. I will work with them for the frames but not with paint, 3/5 users got messed up colors and I don't want that.
Thanks for the information guys!

Anyone got a link to the Low rant about Mielec? Can't find it anywhere....

I believe they only charge 20€ or so for the paint so it's gonna cost way more if you get it done somewhere else. Whats the plan? Selling sweet fixies?

I can paint them "in-house" so to speak, with a painter which is close, for half the sum - I would pay 20€ if they could actually get the proper color - that's why I asked - but after reading this topic, they didn't screw up one frame, they screwed up most of them. That's a mistake I wouldn't accept.
And yes, I plan to build fixed/ssp on demand. We have a poor fixed/ssp scene in Romania, but I might make a difference. I'm settled right in the middle of the country, starting from scratch, won't be easy, but at least it's something! We have no frame builders here, polish guys are the closest, not to mention the price they practice.
Urban cycling is fantastic, more people should benefit from it.

Good luck Sir

Wrote in my previous post, that we have no builders here. And Poland is actually close, the 30 euro shipment wouldn't affect the price that much.

Yeah, even in Denmark there are no frame builders doing aluminium.

i think the problem here might be mielecs are cheap for a reason, not sure you could get away with marking them up much

Rodagira do that

Market and brand it correctly and never tell where the frames actually come from and you just might get rad fixie skidder customers
e. just like the brand PepOne above mentioned 8)

Interesting insight @makko, thing is that's what happens with most mainstream bike builders, ig. factory5, aventon come to mind.
Bulk order happened 4 years ago, from that point people that ordered Mielec came and go, haven't seen proper feedback in the last, let's say, 50 posts. The most information was got before and after the very first buyers got them. Few problems with shipping (dents), mismatched colors and one or two guys got wrong geometries, probably because of miscommunication, because Mielec HQ can't hire a proper English speaking employee.
Branding and marketing will have a high role to play once i get the wheels in motion.

From what i've read here and our Finnish forums, if/when you start your business, make sure to inspect every frame coming from there so you can deal with defects (wrong geo etc) before you get angry customers.

For start I will order 2-3 frames so I can cover different styles and do some quality inspections and tests. If i manage to sell the finished bikes, next orders will be based on each customer ( measured geo for each ).

Guys, how did you paid for frames, transferred money to his account, or paypal? Did you get any receipt for the payment?
