It says here:

11 Speed Shimano Mountain cassettes fit on a traditional 10 speed
freehub and do not require the wider 11 speed road freehub. It is NOT
compatible with 11 speed Shimano road cassettes

I'm assuming that means that the spacing is different to road 11 speed and a RS685 levers/ultegra long cage mech setup wouldn't work with an MTB 11-32 cassette on a 10 speed hub. Or am I mistaken?

Spacing is the same, but as the largest cog is bigger it's generally far enough way from the spokes to not get in the way.
