Hmm, odd. It's the same as KMC Z1X uses, but I just put both pins into the ends of the chain, rest the flat plate over one, then gently bend the chain towards the plate till it can pop over the second pin.
Thanks chaps, had no luck with that but found a powerlink hidden amongst the parts bin so used that.
