Should have some used ones going spare if that's any good for you.

Filled in my Cycle To Work forms today, should be the proud owner of a CAAD12 just in time for winter.

Amen brother.

None of Williams' bikes were things of beauty. This one is interesting, to me at least, as it's rare, numbered, signed, had a famous owner and appears to be in factory spec and in good nick, whereas most Six13 frames have rotted in side out by now.

So despite @Dammit's generous efforts the creak in my CAAD12 BB has returned. I think there's a manufacturing problem as it's been rebuilt 4 times and chewed through 3 sets of bearings on the left hand side.
I brought the frame online from Germany but Cannondale seems to say I can take it to an official dealer on the same continent. Can anyone confirm this?
Given what I've heard about Cannondale and the nature of the issue; not blatantly obvious. I'm sure I'll have lots of fun trying to sort this out. Is there anyway I might also be able to claim back the money spent on parts and labour as I'll need to shell out all over again once/if the frame is replaced?

You can take it to a cannondale dealership but be prepare to pay the labour charge as you didn't buy it locally.

What a pain.

Yes, you can. But the dealer you choose will hate you for it. I'd be inclined to make the original vendor feel the pain to be honest. They might be better motivated to help you, whereas a UK vendor will see you as a job to be done for which they will get little return - unless you make it worth their while by buying something / beer etc.

Who are you going to send the bill to? I don't mean to be facetious but unless one of the parties involved in this owns up and offers to foot the bills you are going to have a hard time with that. I'd keep that under you hat until a replacement frame is on the way, and then go direct to Cannondale Europe.
You could try being 'that guy' on social media. You might have to. Not a great situation to be in.

I'll have to strip it down completely regardless, so I guess the cost of posting back to Germany & the hassle of boxing up etc may outweigh the bother of taking it to Evans for example?
I'd hold Cannondale responsible as the defect would be a result of their lapse QA, whether I'd be covered by any consumer rights I don't know?
Honestly I really should have given up on Cannondale. First CAAD 10 written off less than 5mins into first ride. Supersix HM had to send back the first two frames received as the rear dropouts were 'out' and now this. Fucking balls.

Rock and a hard place. Evan's wouldn't be my first choice. You'd be forever at the back of the queue. A small indy might be better as they'd be motivated to get the thing out of the stock room / warehouse.

I've contacted the German bike shop as my first port of call. Will see what they say before proceeding...

Anyone got a 109mm hollowgram axle going spare?
-
• #7116
The really shite frontwheel that came on the F1000 has a thru-axle.
If you are stuck PM me and I can measure it up for you, if it fits I'll pop it in the Snailmail.

Sorry, mean a Hollowgram crank axle! Thanks anyway tho.
-
• #7118

They shouldn't, generally the difference is that you have to pay for the labour (that would otherwise be free if it brought from the shop).

Maybe, but they also have to wait equally in the queues as well, currently is 2-3 months (CSG replying to emails, finding replacement frame/bike, sending them out etc.).
-
• #7120
I'd try another 109mm axle, it's the only thing I can think of that might be causing this (other than the frame being borked).
-
• #7121
I'm very wary of throwing much more money at it, kind of a £45 gamble. Was it the bearings or the axle that were stiff going back in?
-
• #7122
Axle diameter is larger than the other axles I have used normally after half an hour in the freezer you can slide them in by hand.
-
• #7123
Hmmmm, cheers will have a think about it...
-
• #7124
When you say chewed through, what exactly is the problem?

Anyone got a 10mm bb30 spacer they want to get ride of? Well 9mm be great. Thanks
Hurrah. I need a pair of black crank bolts if you happen to end up with spare pair :)
