  • Make sure to buy a Che Guevara t-shirt at the same time for the cheap cheap price of £19.99

Good idea, thanks. Means it takes it over the £20 minimum spend for free P&P too :)

  • Is everyone on this cycling forum a Tory?

Almost everyone. @Fox is a Marxist.

  • That bloke who only has a blank space for a username is a Mraksist.

  • Is everyone on this cycling forum a Tory?

    Just the estate agents...

  • Dude, we all know this shit and largely agree. We just think this particular protest will be rubbish.

  • Anonymous isn't a coherent or organised collective to you can't really agree with them because of the breadth of diversity in the opinions of those who claim to represent it.

A march like this, at this time of day, of people who cannot be identified (and therefore cannot be directly represented in parliamentary democracy) is something that the current government can ignore. And because they can ignore it, they will. We know this because they have ignored other protests like this and some that have had a far higher ignorability bar than this. Perhaps the only thing they will pay attention to is the policing bill, which will be used as a brickbat against certain opposition that they can't ignore and as a device to engineer other cuts in areas they like less than policing.

You could argue that this march will raise awareness. But it won't. You've grievously underestimated the ability of Londoners to ignore whatever inconvenient shit that's going on around them. It's been raised to the level of an artform, it's practically a contact sport in LFL.

So I'm not sure what you think your Significantly Less Than a Million Mask March is going to achieve, but at most it's an exercise in shouting into an abyss. If the abyss deigns to respond with anything more than a desultory cry of "Fuck off march wankers" then I'll be very surprised. But hey, I could be wrong, maybe some of the Met's finest will sign up for Cracking Skulls practice at time and a half.

Either way, the sum achievement of this protest is actually less then zero. Why I hear you cry? Well as the strength of Anonymous, if it has any at all, is internet hacktivism, any time spent mooching about a dark and moody city that couldn't give a fuck is time not spent exploiting the weaknesses of your enemies. Definitely not time well wasted.

Have you considered trying something that actually works?

  • Ffs he thinks bike helmets work.

  • Everyone knows how fucked Tory policy is, and I doubt many people on this forum are right wing. This event isn't going to do shit, and is just going to be written off as a bunch of edgy teenagers and dweebs 'doing anarchy'. If you want to change things then do it in a way that people might actually pay attention to, not by aligning yourself with the increasingly irrelevant 'anonymous'.

  • By the way the people who are slagging off this event should go here to the event Facebook page and put forward their criticisms and suggestions about how to protest properly: https://www.facebook.com/events/485894658146587/ People forget that Anonymous is an open and democratic group which is open to everyone! By the way so far this event has got 19,000 people who have said they will attend so far, which is very encouraging.

  • It's easy to snipe... If you're not happy with the way things are, protest...

If you don't wanna join this lot, organise yourselves...

  • Almost 2% of one million.

  • and we all know that 100% of people who click online they are going go

  • The Anonymous movement is being led by the nose by swivel-eyed conspiracy theorists, wilfully idiotic libertarians, and alt-right demagogues (the latter particularly). The virtue of anonymity has become its achilles heel.

  • @LongBridge will you be wearing helmet at the protest?

  • Or I could just ignore them, like everyone else will, and carry on engaging with efforts that might actually achieve something.

  • Massive rep for this post. Haha.

  • Loving the irony of these 'anonymous' protestors signing up to a Facebook event for a protest :/

  • I'll be going.

  • By the way wearing a cycle crash helmet is a great idea as it will protect you from truncheon blows if the police decide to baton charge people. By the way over 30 years ago the anarchist punks tried to wake up the masses and explain to them how the badly government was behaving like in this song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u9C7o3WGMoE
it is a shame that most people did not listen to them back then or listen to organisations such as CND which tried to explain how billions of our tax money was being wasted on evil nuclear weapons.

  • I can't understand what they're saying, did they never take elocution lessons?

  • Right a quick run down of why this protest is taking place!
    1) to protest against massive austerity cuts to vital public services while allowing corporate tax dodgers to get away without paying many billions in taxes.
2)Against Trident nuclear replacement which will cost over 41 billion, money which is being totally wasted on weapons that can never be used when public services are being starved of cash. Nuclear weapons are the most evil weapons ever invented as well!
    3) The protest against the Tories welfare reforms which mean that many people get social security sanctions meaning they have all their benefits stopped for up to six months making them reliant on food banks or making them even destitute.
    4) To protest against state brutality, we have informed pressure group Black Lives Matter about this protest and hope to welcome them to this event.
Now here is the Facebook event, go and share it and invite as many of your friends as possible.

  • have you considered joining a union and voting for the labour party?

  • This is literally the first time I've heard about these things, thank goodness the march is taking place to spread awareness!

  • It's just amazing how everything's happening on this "Facebook" these days, it's as if democracy doesn't rely just on LFGSS any more.
