Granted if you're competing you'll be at a disadvantage, although looking stylish while doing so. Not being the most competitive frame by today's standards there is a satisfaction in seeing your fitness/technique improve on a once competitive frame, whether that is just training. If I was on a carbon bike and you overtook me i'd certainly break a wry smile.
Thanks! Well, as everybody knows (or should know), if you don't have the legs, you will not be fast enough even on the most expensive and lightest modern bike :)
