Exactly, I know, found the Columbus minimal 1" a few days ago ;)
It would be the cheapest solution definitely. But by buying a complete frameset I would save at least 1.5Kg. I am not a weight weenie but that would be a huge difference. If I am healthy and fit I can compete with local guys on modern/high end carbon bikes so it would be wort the investment. I will see...
