  • You may also use:

    The Axle Botherer

    and

    The Bearing Fiddler

    You're welcome

  • My CAAD12 was great in the Rockies, I forgot to bring the 44 so ended up using the 50, which tbh was fine.

    Zero creaks.

  • My friend's CAADX was creakier than his knees, so we stripped the whole thing and built it the way it should have been, by greasing the threads and fibregripping the clamps, and you know what it was... where the stem clamps the steerer wasn't greased or fibregripped. Not the BB30 at all.

Also SRAM do a BB30 that comes in a plastic sheath, I've got one in my evo, and it doesn't creak at all.

  • this might make you wince a bit... also a potential bargain to be had

  • Kinda want...

  • My caad 3.

  • nice caad3! I'd go for black steel quill stem for rigidity

  • Thanks!

Yeah, I've been keeping an eye out for slightly shorter stem.

  • Or Nitto's, as they're pretty stiff for a quill stem (ditto nitto handlebar).

  • Make sure it match the clamp diameter, quill stem doesn't like it with 26mm stem and 25.4mm bar.

If you have to use that combination, make sure to shim it.

  • I have a CAAD10 Disc F&F (on sale at Evans earlier in the year) that's been sitting in my office for ages and is long over due building up. A number of you on here have built the same frame up, so I'd appreciate some advice;

    1. BB - will be using Ultegra 6800 chainset - I believe the Rotor BB is the way to go here as there's clearance for the cables/hoses on the outside of the shell?
    2. Rotor choice - was thinking 140mm RT99 front & rear? - brakes are Shimano RS685/785

    thanks

    Steve

  • I've been riding this 2.8 with a magic gear for the past couple of months. Just got a rival/force groupset and a black ck headset to add to it. Might add Continental Grand Prix classics as well, figure they'll hold up better than regular tan walls over winter.

  • If I'm fitting a Hollowgram SL crankset to a non-Cannondale BB (it's a Rotor PF30 BB which I got instead of the FSA PF30 BB which was supposed to come with the frame) do I need the bearing shields shown as part number 7 here:

    ?

My guess is no, and that they're really part of the BB, but I'd like to be sure...

  • 104mm spindle? If so you may (depending on width) need to have no shields and no spacers

  • possibly, not that that shows it but the bearing shields have a raised ring that only touches the inner race, and not the seal, if the race sits proud to the seal you should be fine.

  • Yes - you need the shields. Not fitting them - or something that does the equivalent job - means bits of the BB will press directly against the rubber bearing shields with predictable results.

  • Ive got a couple of spare bearing shields if you want them? Free ofc

  • Those none hollowgram Si's dont look half bad if you throw spiderrings on

And still are great crankset too, it's not like it's a lots heavier.

  • Is it possible to fit Challenger Strada Bianca on a 2011 CAAD10 with Force brakes or is that pushing it.

  • kinda pushing it, which rim?

  • One with 19 mm internal.

  • mmmmmaybe .. @edscoble tried it I think.

    What brake calipers?
