- 28c is the largest pair of corsas planet x had on sale
- Front fork doesn't have the same massive clearance as the original steamroller one
- Was scared to go any bigger

The CC is far more suited to winter duties. I did like riding my CC as SS for a few months - but since it was built up for audax and touring originally - Guards, rack and stand - seemed overly heavy for a 7 mile commute. So I put 10sp group back on it - and decided not sell the Roller. Roller is great for just the summer months, been having a blast the last couple of months. Quite happy to leave it shed from November to February.

Looking to get one of these and do the disc trucker conversion on the front. Does anyone have anything in a 53cm? Elsewhere in this thread it says they are the "Volvo of fixed wheel bikes" but the internet has come up with nothing used wise!

^ That's my plan too. Also want to weld some canti bosses on the rear for some big tyre skidding action

Just a shame nobody is selling one at the moment!

I have a question for those who run 35-38c fixed on their steamrollers. I'm thinking hybrid 29er rims laced to a mid to high end track hub, same for the front obviously. What are people running wheel wise?
-
• #1937
TB-14s laced to cheapo sealed formulas, dressed in 35c Paselas. Dead solid, no complaints. Any wide girth road/hybrid rim aught to be fine, chain/seatstay clearance won't be a problem. Might have to sit the wheel a little back if running 38s to clear the brake bridge though.

Could get the Surly ultra new hubs, really like mine

I switched to Marathon in 28s. Great all year round performance and not as sluggish as the Pluses. I need a rear guard for the winter months @vequatrenligne what is that you have on yours?

It was Specialized Fatboys 700x45c :)

Yeah they do look nice in polished. Looks like quite a well made hub, I will consider a pair.
@DarkShot how do your TB14s feel with 35c etc. from memory they appeared quite narrow so when planning this build actually considered todestrieb or whatever they're called, which is significantly wider.
Meh does anybody have a fixed wheelset that can fit 35c+ they're not making use of? ;)

If you're riding fix-fix i may have some for you, message me if you're interested :)

I rode Todestrieb rims, they're more 29" rims than 700c and I tried with 700x28 (Conti GP4000) and with 700x45 (Specialized Fatboys).
Conti are real road tyres and they fit very well, as well as the Spe Fatboys wich are 29" tyres.
Front hub is Surly disc and rear is BLB Track alike hub.
The wheelset is strong and "a bit" heavy but street proof. -

Strangely enough your bike was my inspiration on surlys website. More looking through their image dump for ideas on wheelsets, That's where I got the idea for todestriebs Lel. Being honest that would be the perfect wheelset for me minus the disc brake.
Tres Bon!

We've surely came a long way now, that an 17,5mm internal width Rim is considered narrow.

Being 6'1", am I lying to myself if I think I can make a 62cm steamroller work? An affordable f/f is available, and I'm aiming to make it my NYC winter commuter. Apols if this isn't in the spirit of the thread.
And I think there's a couple with the 26" disc trucker fork, which is very close to the original in length, and seems to take wideish cx tyres, so at least 25's and mudguards should be fine too. But then again, shimano mid reach calibers with good pads are fine too.
