I'd be up for taking part on 25th January. My fitness is highly questionable so would be keen on leading the ride just to slow everybody else down.
Fixed. :)

So who would consider the 25th?

2015
I'm sorry to say this is going to be a repeat of last year. I'm not reliably fit enough to try to lead a ride like this and, like last year, I've got the road race to worry about.
If there is anyone else out there who is prepared to lead, I would be happy to offer whatever support I can - route advice, check that cafes are available, do a report, what ever is needed.
It's not impossible that I might ride, but I think it's unlikely.Let me know what you think.

Let me check my schedule, but I would be happy to lead a HDiJ. It would need to be early January for me. Will post back.
And thanks for the offer clubman, if it goes ahead I'll need a route refresher from you.

Yo. I'm keen, but I've been keen in previous years and not made it. Early Jan would suit me pretty well Dan. Will keep monitoring this thread in any case.

Will try and make it again, if only to check on my trophy ;)

Also keen, if I am available

Trophy?

What's the date again?
-
• #512
Anybody available on the 24th for this? Happy to lead it if so.
-
• #513
I know its really far out but to allow people to keep a date free, does anyone else want to complete a hard day in January?
I saw this come up a few times in years gone by but was unable to join and I don't think it happened last year.

• #514
I would be definitely.

• #515
Yeah gwan

Geared or fixed? Never ridden with you YAL, only nearby.
-
• #518
That would be nice!

10% chance for me (fix only event)

I'm pleased to see you want to revive this event.
I'll be happy to give any help I can, but I'm not going to ride (short of a miracle of improved fitness) and I don't want to put myself forward as organiser.
I can certainly give details of the route that was used last time, and I may be able to come as photographer and reporter. I may also be able to encourage a couple of Hounslow riders to go.
As to the 'fixed' question it was my original intention that it should be at least a single gear event - as far as I can remember on the very first ride, that's to say the 1959 edition, there was one rider on single free and the rest on fixed. However, it's always hard to turn some one away because they haven't got the right kit, so I don't think this should be rigorously enforced.

I enjoyed this a few years back, I'd be keen to do it again.
Got a few months to get a suitable fixed bike.

Right here's the route from the 2012 edition of the HDIJ which looks right to me (and from memory of other editions) starting and finishing at the Staines Sailing Club. If the club isn't available as a start point then I can work out something elsewhere. I know it's a long ways away but what about the 14th of January? That way if we are scuppered by poor weather we have another few weekends if we need to bump. If there is a bit of consensus I'll put up a ride. Hopefully it will be pretty cold and we're on the fixed wheeled machines.

No can do if fixed only. Enjoy chaps.

In if gears allowed...

I quoteth the clubman: "However, it's always hard to turn some one away because they haven't got the right kit, so I don't think this should be rigorously enforced." I only meant hopefully...anyway all ur gears r welcome. Besides it's not necessarily my ride, I'm just trying to generate enthusiasm!
I am up for this, I do not have Garmin / GPS though, so if you / someone else wants to lead that is fine. I am not very fit but not a slouch either. Will be on a Langster though, so apologies in advance :(
