  • Yeah i was thinking about the compact chainset but didn't go for it in the end. There is a good mix of flats and steeps over here so i should get by. I'm very impressed with the overall feel of the Ultegra groupset actually. It's very solid and the shifting is excellent, the brakes are fantastic too.

  • Black expensive Chris King Sottovoce :)

  • If i had the money i would buy two. One to use and one to look at when i'm feeling sad....So beautiful but too expensive atm....sigh

  • I know :/ I wanted to get one for my Somec who's getting a similar treatment as yours. Decided for a modern (but much cheaper) Record headset.

  • I've given in and ordered one. I'm weak

  • Adding my bike to this thread, hope you all like it, I've finished it!

  • Nice. What year is the frame?

  • How old does the frame need to be to get in here?

  • 12 years or more.

  • I my mind anything pre 2000

  • Mine just made your cut then, it's from 1999.

  • I should say: they have to be pre-STI/Ergo period to deserve a place in here. That would mean pre 1990 but as it took some years before they were widely spread (e.g.: even "Big Mig" Indurain used downtube shifters in the 1991 Tour de France) say pre 1992?

  • This is from 94. Downtube shifters/braze-ons do signify this type of build imo

  • I don't know how old you are but when I was racing back in 1994 no one was still racing DT-shifters...

  • Maybe one that have yet to have integrated headset?

Or horizontal top tube before Giant brought out the compact geometry?

  • A frame originally designed for downtube shifters, having been converted to STIs, would seem to be the sensible criterion IMO. Bonus marks for having owned said converted bike since "birth". ;)

In fact it's a difficult one. Post 1992 top frames (as the Moser above) never had DT-shifters when sold as a complete bike, but the lower end bikes (the ones equipped with Exage, 105 and even 600 Tricolor) often came with DT-shifters even though STI's were on the market for quite some years. But as far as I remember, from 1992-1993 on practically no one still raced DT-shifters.

  • I was 5 in 1994 and only cared about biker mice from mars and footie.

  • Maybe we just stick to 'Modern groupset on an old frame'. Age is but a number

  • I was 21 in 1994. And when I started racing in 1992, I, being a poor student, already had the feeling I was the only one still using DT-shifters. ;-)

  • Not sure how old (if at all) the frame is, but neo-retro on point.

  • Poor picture, but my 90s carbon Ambrosio with Sram Red

  • Other wheels!!

  • Beauty! Can you give some more details on bar bag? And fenders.

  • They were collectively about £30 and the frame cost me 20 so it won't ever be getting any money spent on it I'm afraid. Its pretty much a place holder for the parts while I paint another frame.
