  • Pissing down and it's a hurricane out there, well on the south coast at least.

  • welcome to a normal day in inverness , sorry it sounded like you were another scottish rider then, until i read SOUTH EAST!!!!

5degrees and torrential rain today :(

  • Beautifully poised track stand whilst turning right on old bethnal green road ended in a heap of me and bike as it turns out my toe gap is too small. The removals van coming out the junction to my right thought it was great... so much so he had to honk his horn.. the shame!

  • Anyone know what happened last night north of St. George's Circus between Webber Street and Pocock Street? Police were putting up tape around the area about 6:20pm. There was an ambulance but didn't seem too much urgency.

  • How's the long commute going? I've started cycling from just below Waltham Abbey to Camberwell, and have yet to do it in less than 1h25. I've been staying on the towpath until Seven Sisters, and I think that's what's slowing me down.

Does anyone know how busy/horrible the A10 (or the A1010, which I imagine is fine?) is up past SS? Is there a reason google maps thinks it'll take longer than the towpath?

  • Coming off the blue highway at Tower Hill, so that I can get onto East Smithfield and the Highway.

"Why did you miss your turn"

Yokel faced mug on a motorbike chatting at me.

"You missed your turn, why did you miss it"

Wind your neck in, sweetpea. Where I cycle is none of your business, is it. Now piss off.

"But you missed you turn. Why did you miss it. Why did you miss your turn?"

  • Junctions, you might make a better moving average but you can be sat at a junction for a couple of minutes. Repeat that a couple of times and you've lost all advantage. But, towpath will soon be very dirty. Lots of sludge and standing water.

  • I haven't started the long commute yet, on holiday this week so I'm going to be starting it fat and out of shape on Monday. :)

My plan currently is down through Hoddesdon, Broxbourne, Cheshunt, Waltham Cross then onto the old A10 (Hertford Road?) through Ponders End and Tottenham. I've tried the A1055 parallel to it, but found that it's either massive lorries speeding past or total gridlock and boring filtering. Less traffic lights though and having done it at night it can be quite a quick route.

I think the London end will be over seven sisters towards Holloway Road, up Camden and through Regents towards Victoria.

  • Cycling home yesterday I enjoyed being overtaken by a car that was itself being overtaken by another car.

  • Had a little look as i went past, some guy slumped on the floor next to the bus stop, blood smeared on the paving. Plenty of people tending to him so fingers crossed.

Actually completely forgot about this as 2 minutes later i was sat in the E&C mini box getting heat stroke from Professor Green's AMG side exit exhaust. He tried to roll through the red and the twat only stopped as peds we're crossing. In fairness he looked as lost/confused as most and pulled away pretty sheepishly when the lights changed.

  • Pedestrian or other mode of transport? I did spot a bit of blood on the sidewalk area seperating the bike lane and the road. Hope all is fine.

  • Guy (ped) got clocked by a bus crossing the road - seemed to be getting the care he needed when I rolled past (17:50).

  • Spat at by a white van man today as I told him to move over whilst he came bounding towards me on a narrow road. Admittedly my rage got the better of me and I turned round and smacked his wing mirror back as I got alongside him. Unfortunately I didn't think he would get out of his van and run up to me, he grabbed me from behind and had a go at me. Got pictures of the little fuck. Is it worth chasing up the scummer?

  • It's assault if he spat at you.

If your clothing still got his spit, preserve it and take it to police.

  • Well that sounds a lot worse than what just happened to me!
Got punishment passed and the guy looked like he was going to just carry on in to me so i slapped his car. He then stopped and had a go at me saying he gave me plenty of room. If I can hit your car, you're too fucking close, you prick.

  • If he spat before you hit his van then yeah?
If you hit his van before he did anything to you he could say he was provoked?
    Do 'im

  • Cheers guys, just filed a little report. I can take a lot of abuse but spitting is another level.

  • Oops, wrong thread.

  • Filtering to the right of cars backed up as I headed into town along the Q1 quietly along Lynton Road, junction with Dunton Road, there's a lone motorcyclist coming in the opposite direction, gesturing at me to get back into the line of traffic, and driving close to the centre of the road to intimidate me to do so, even though there's loads of space to his left as the road is completely empty. I could understand a car taking umbrage with me facing the oncoming traffic, and I probably wouldn't have filtered if a car had been there, but a motorbike? I ignored him. 7/10

  • My commute will increase (from 4 minutes) to around 20~30 minutes as of next week. New job.

But I really am not enjoying drivers recently

  • Been on holiday in that french place with the tower and stuff, had a fun ride turning right all the time as fuck it I can run the lights that way.

  • Two silly cyclists today going against traffic on cycle lanes.

One silly cyclists doing does this cos of lazy behaviour. I often see cyclists there that can't be arsed crossing the road twice, but it's not a segregateded two directions cycle lane so it's cuntish behaviour. If the road there wasn't about 2.5 lanes wide I'd be dangerous too as you'd force others into traffic. Get off my lawn etc etc ;)

The other is confusing sign posting. Ok you'd think it'd obvious to not enter a narrow non segregated lane against traffic, but the "no entry" traffic sign on the sign pole is miniscule. And the cyclist look very newbie...had some trouble staying balanced waiting for order lights. While he was on the road blocking a tiny cycle lane...bit worrying.

Will email relevant Belfast area, see what they say.

  • If I can hit your car, you're too fucking close, you prick.

The irony of this is lost on apopleptic 'don't touch my car' pratts.

    Clockwise²

  • More fun on Tower Hill and the Highway this morning.

There appeared to be a tipper truck race.

    You remember tipper trucks?

They're the big peoplesquishy ones, with limited visibility, poor handling, and from the screechy sound of it, shitty brakes.

    Racing.
