How long do you get out of front arms? Mine are 4 bolt, same as r and awd
-
• #30054
I've only replaced them once, so not sure- at least four years
-
• #30055
Which for me is probably less than 20,000 miles.

rubbish - I've read about scuttle shake on convertibles and I bet it will twist up like a sweetie wrapper on a motorway on ramp...
-
• #30057
btw - I have dug out those two six point harnesses, if you want them.
also swapped the green machines harnesses back to normal retractors if anyone is after a pair of black luke 3-point harnesses

Yes I do. I probably owe you another afternoon on the B as well if there's more work to be done?
-
• #30059
not a lot done since last time, tbh - I have been writing about light

I'm free in the last 2 weekends of October, we can always re-schedule if it's raining.
-
• #30062
I am now insured on the Porsche.
Do I need to do something regarding VED before I pick it up, or can I sort that when I get home?
-
• #30063
I'm not going to walk you through the whole car ownership thing...
-
• #30064
this i like :)

You can buy it on your phone as soon as the V5 New keeper slip is in your hand.
Or you can risk the drive home and do it there. -

I'm not going to walk you through the whole car ownership thing...
It's been nine years since I last did it - things have changed!
-
• #30067
let's book both sundays - if the first one rains, we got the second

Technically you need to buy the VED before you drive it home. I suspect that many don't, and that few are caught.
-
• #30070
This is technically true, but until the previous owner sends the V5C back to Swansea, the authorities have no idea it's changed ownership & therefore that the current VED is no longer valid. So unless you plough into a bus queue, I cannot see how you would ever get done for it.

I'm fine with buying it before I get in the car, just wanted to know the requirement.
I'll be transferring the cash using a laptop to access my bank anyway, simple enough to arrange £20/month to the DVLA at the same time.

VED
https://www.gov.uk/vehicle-tax
you can use the slip was my understanding. get the reference number from him/her over the phone and do it online before you go.
-
• #30073
It's fairly easy to do, and the 100% legit way.
I took full advantage of the fact that until Swansea receive and process the V5c, they have no way of knowing the car has been sold. Therefore the previous owner's VED payment still stands. I know it's wrong but I made it OK in my head because there's a delay in them processing so there would be a brief period of maybe 2 days or even a week when both the new and previous owners are paying for the VED on the same car.

Cool, I'll put it in the diary now.

Actually I looked at my calendar wrong, I'm actually free every Sunday in October except this first one this weekend, so there's 4 to pick from.
Are you done with your extra written work?
Unrelated but what front lower arms and or bush's do you use on the 850? Chasing suspension demons for ages now and had a local specialist look at mine who says front bush's on lower arms are half torn. Not bad enough for a standard car on 195/55/15s and no arbs to notice but with my setup it will be quite noticeable. Tramlines like a twat on so much as a wet leaf, uneven tyre wear, horrific things in bumpy imperfect surface corners.
Given they were new genuine volvo arms (seem to be the only ones worth a damn) less than 3 years ago I'm gonna have to go third party, delrin, poly or solid alu with a needle bearing in them. Ball joints are still perfect though.
On that up side my steering rack and bulkhead has clean bill of health from someone who works on these daily.
