  • Anyone got any experience of product for reducing rain noise on a polycarbonate roof? It'll be a newly fitted roof, and I'd like to fit it at the same time as the rest of the roof if there is that opportunity. The area isn't occupied, but our bedroom does lead on to it, so rain noise can be a pain sometimes, but this is probably mainly due to a faulty gutter, which will also be getting fixed.

Light transmission is a priority, I've spoken to one guy who claimed theirs was clear as glass, but it was damn expensive too.

  • You may be able to dampen the noise by adding mass somewhere. For example attaching lead weights somewhere to it. I've no idea what you installation looks like and if that would be a practical solution.

For noise isolation, you either add mass to absorb sound, or de-couple the material where the noise is arriving from the material next to it (eg. Your bedroom wall) using some for, of acoustic insulation; sometimes something as simple as a rubber grommet.
