  • If you live SE there's a few new places open in Brockley.

Salthouse Bottles - really nice shop, great air con and an excellent selection

Water into Beer - very handy homebrew shop which also has a small bottle shop attached, you can drink in. The judgy sainsburys cat frequents now and then.

  • They also do a loyalty card in Water into Beer every 8th beer free I think

  • Yup, they also give you free freshly popped popcorn if you drink in

  • London folk. I started getting the Beer52 boxes but have decided after two that they are not for me (too many pales/lagers/IPAs). As a result I have some Oskar Blues/Odell's IPAs, Pale Ales, Lagers etc that I'm up for swapping if you have an stouts/saisons/sours you don't want?

  • Much excite at the local

  • Hi picked up a few bottles from Clapton Craft here in NW5 (confusing I know) anyone tried Tool - Hoppy Monday? One of the most delicious beers I've had in a long while - fruity and smokey all at once!

  • After brewing at home for 5 years and receiving great feedback on my homebrews from punters and brewers alike, I've done some research on going commercial from my kitchen. Turns out it's not that hard so, after discussing with Simon, I'm putting the wheels in motion.

My braumiester does 20 litres and I have fermenter space for 70 litres. I'd like to remain small and concentrate on small batch specials. I tend to brew things which take longer such as sours, bretted beers and imperial stouts which I think would be great in small limited batches.

    Wish me luck!

  • Good luck!

When can I expect the first shipment?

  • Hopefully early next year if all goes well. I'd probably brew my latest gose again as that's pretty easy to get out whilst I fill my barrel I just got with something and sit on it for a while. Planning to eventually do a wild kriek with the barrel once it's been used a few times and the alcohol has dissipated from it.

I'm not a big pale ale or IPA drinker so probably won't have a "core range" with those in.

  • This sounds like a brilliant idea - a core range of sour beers & gose would be a popular choice!

  • Wouldn't imperial stouts take ages to brew?

  • Awesome news Kat!

    Looking forward to some sampling!

  • I'm going to brew one next week and the recipe calls for around two weeks in primary and then I'll bottle it after that.

Hopefully brew enough to have one every fortnight or so to let some of them age.

  • Did an imperial stout, took the whole day to brew but is possible. Have sat on the bottles for best part of the year. I brew them at start of the year to be ready for christmas.

I did say I do things which take ages to be ready.

  • imperial stouts

    Dibs, will you post? ;)

  • Ha I'll look into it ;)

  • Polish deli in East Acton, the one with the great range of craft polish ale, has bizzare limitation from Ealing council allowing them to sell a minimum of 2 beers. Supposedly to prevent street drinking. They're the only shop with this limitation. #racist #brexit

"Jayshree Gandecha, who runs the Queens Road Newsagent and has lived in the road for 30 years, described how she "cried herself to sleep" most nights due to the harassment she suffered from drunken louts."

"The owner of the Polish deli, Ms Joanna Pazdierny, challenged Miss Gandecha’s testimony asking why, if she was so badly affected by street drinking, did she sell alcohol in her own shop."

    LOLs

Given "not selling single cans or beers over 5.5 per cent" the rule might be a common restriction for such delis but this one needed to make it known?

  • the rule might be a common restriction for such delis

There are at least 5 shops on this stretch of Old Oak Common lane selling alcohol with no restrictions. Why should 'deli' status make a difference? They are so helpful and friendly in that shop too

  • I would ask, why are you only buying one can at a time? :P

  • Actually I had bought four. Then went back to buy a fifth...

  • Two hands, two beers min.

Acton's one-handed population will be upset. Forced to buy a 5p bag to carry their can +1 home.

  • For people in Manchester not going to Indy Beer Man Con
